Looks like the car has been sold. Dang, I was looking seriously at purchasing it. Well I guess I'll be looking at a nice S2000 in about a year
The M5s are amazing!! I've been trying to talk Dez into buying one for about a year now, She has a Z3 but wants some more room. She has her mind set on a Mercedes (V6 too ) I may still be able to sway her towards a nice M3

Donovan,

I found a nice blue M3, 2001 model with 32k miles for sale for only $33k...that's a pretty good deal, you should check it out...it even has a DVD system for the kids

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6131

As far as my car, not so sure about the sale yet, the winner asked me to wait to Jan. 21st for payment because he's stationed in Korea and there is some problem with him selling some funds...etc. I have a counter offer from someone else that said they're ready to fly out, pay $30k cash right away and drive it home.

I have to say, once I received the notice from ebay that the car sold, I felt terrible. I was very very sad for a brief moment (about 5 minutes), but soon got over it because it does simplify things for me. We'll see how it works out.

On the one hand I need to grow up and let it go, on the other hand I did get over it pretty quick. It was certainly a wonderful experience owning this car, I loved driving it, performing the mods, making my own stuff...etc. I am exhausted overall though.

My 3rd child was born very ill and for the past 2.5 years I simply did not have the time to enjoy the car and can't see myself being able to come back do what I used to do with the car.

cheers

W

Thanks Mahjik,

Those are great photos in the links below! I love the idea of going to the track with my little rascals in the back seat of my track car

I have a friend with a BMW M5:

He's owned it for a little over a year and hasn't had any problems (aside from his crappy driving curbbing it, which is why I got him out to a track event this year). The car eats oil, but coming from an FD, that won't be a problem for you.

Best of luck!

How can I forget...and it ended up being the darn tiny band clamp at the back of the upper extension manifold, the one for the map sensor hose, was oriented in a way that when you're at WOT it catches the butterfly lever and keeps it open...just a dumb 4mm band clamp!

Its always amazing what others are willing to do to help you out at MADS. I will continue to attend MADS regardless what I end up with.

cheers

What is going on, Wael?
3 posts on the forum within 2 hours?
Do you already miss your RX7? Or, are you seeking closure?

You guys know the ex-GF you used to have incredible sex with and which you compare all current and future ones to (in that department) and yet they never seem to be able to quite hold the same candle to her?

Wael, the FD is going to be that ex-GF for you.

LOL! Yup! I was just commenting to Ed on the phone (before reading this post) that the M5 is like a wife, and the rx-7 is like a spoiled child that gets everything it wants. The M5 is a good, well built, good looking, nicely finished, with enough hand build quality just to satisfy, does everything with no fuss, very fast, handles great, and its a car that will go the distance. Just like a wife should But is it the sexiest? No! Is it the best handler? No! Is it the best sedan? No...it is, as they say, master of none but it is multi-talented...just like a good wife

That ex-GF, can certainly do one thing...and do that one thing well But she's not the ideal wife

Ok, now I am not sure where to go from here because anything I say will come back to bite me in the ***...assuming, everything I said so far won't

cheers

"A stock CYM goes for more then $20k unless it's all dented and tore up.

He can probably get $30k for it."

I agree with you Gsrsol--in my view well over $20K!! I sure as hell wouldn't sell it for anything less than $30K.

Wael

Thanks for all the years of sharing your expertise and the last 20 minutes of fall on the floor laughter as I read this thread. BTW your personifications of the RX7 and Bimmer 5s as wife and spoiled brat are directly on point.

Best

Jeff

All dyno runs should be done in 4th gear for an accurate 1:1 ratio

Actually, the ratio doesn't matter on a Dynojet because the acceleration of the drum is monitored and compared to a known baseline and only engine rpm is used to calculate the torque required.

The reason 4th gear is most commonly used is because it gives the computer enough time to gather enough data points for a more accurate curve without keeping the engine under load for an extended period of time.

I thought it was also due to less driveline loss in 4th (1:1 ratio)
