Wael's car is perfect. $20K would just buy a nice stocker or mildly modded car.

Let's say you bought a 93 in decent condition for $13K...

Quality Wheels and tires $3K+
IC $1-1.5K
Exhaust $700 (dp, cb and hf cat)
gauges $200
motor rebuild $3K
etc
etc
etc
etc
etc
etc

Hmmm, lets see that is more than $20K and I haven't even begun to add up what it would take to duplicate that car. I bet you have more $$ into your car that doesn't run and is not nearly as modified.

Your the tool schoolboy. Go put another t-shirt through your turbos.

money managment, $150,000 into a car and you can sell it for $30,000? i gues i just can't fathom that kind of budget

i also feel that more than half of that is labor...but yet he has this phantasmagorical garage? i don't really understand...

and why the hostility? i was simply saying that i feel sorry for this guy as it seems that he's been putting someone else's kids through college

I think that's a steal. I know I've put a bunch more than 30k in my car and would trade in a second for that one.

I've never seen a CYM with 90,000++ miles go for close to $20k. More like 16k in less modded form. Wael's car is extremely nice, but you cant ignore the fact that it has 93k

Great, just what it needs. An owner that hasn't a clue about what to do with it other than push a pedal.

oh yea. lol. my bad. forgot that little fact. you're right. the ones I've seen are slightly modded w/ like 30k miles.

on the same note tho, some people do feel their mods warrant a serious increase in the price... look at autotrader. they have a cpl FDs sellin for $30K+ and many in the $28K range.

now who's to say they'll actually get it, but nonetheless they feel w/ the money they spent in the car, it warrants an increase in the resale value of their car, and I kinda have to agree...

There's really only so much wear you can put on the car within 90k miles. You can take the chassis to 1000k if you replace the standard wear items continuously. It's really not that big a deal.

But America - new new new, whatever.

The engine itself contains all brand new parts!

On the notoriously unreliable FD...im not so sure haha. I've learned that parts that just don't break on other cars are "standard wear items" on FDs

But you know, you're very right. I'm not even sure if you realize just how deep your statement is... many "third world countries" have fiats, pegeots, cressidas, and corollas from the 1970's that are on their 400,000 mile mark and wut not. We're just so spoiled here in america...we'll consume, use, & replace... but re-use? yea right...

i would have to agree with this. the engine in this car is relativly new, and as long as replacement parts are made for fd's, the mileage shouldn't matter.

Pretty much:

Paint
Suspension (bushings, dampers)
Wheel bearings
Axles
Differential
Transmission
Engine obviously
Tires
Steering rack/tie-rods
Brake rotors/calipers
Typically electric motor failures
Batteries
Various EFI sensors that are freely available.
Exhaust piping
Radiator
Intercooler
Oil coolers (these last three take a lot of time to fully wear out).
Interior (relatively tame wear)

That's about all I can think of off the top of my head that will wear over a million miles.

The chassis itself is not going to sit there and wear unless you let rust become an issue.

I think it has more to do with just the way a *typical* American consumer would approach things. Gross generalization, but on the whole you see a lot of impulsive buying and associated boredom setting in a couple of years later. The cycle then continues with a new purchase.

i agree with clayne 100%, when i saw that price for 30k my mouth dropped, i heard about this guy because im from the same state, unfortantly never got to see the car in person, but my friend did, and he said it is beatiful.
you can clearly see that from the pictures. IMO that car should be going for atleast 45k.
93blackfd:
it seems that you always have something to say about someone, i have yet to see you say something good about someone. it blows my mind that you would have the silentest effort to even make fun of this guy for putting that kind of money into a car. if you have the money, why not spend it? you cant take it with you when you die, so why not enjoy it. just my way of thinking i guess.
just because he put 150k in and maybe alot of it is from labor, that doesnt mean he spend it, he still put the money into it. 150k is 150k, no matter what it is spent on, weather if its parts or whatever. he should get the respect that he put in the "rench time" and money.

Unless you're buying something really rare, like an Enzo or McLaren F1, putting it in a garage and never driving it, a car is the worst way to invest money. Finiancially speaking cars are not assets, unfortunately. They're money pits. Financially speaking, children are much like cars.

This guy loved the car somewhat like a child, hence the spending. [FWIW, some people wouldn't mind selling their grown children. So don't bother pointing that out :P] I love mine the same way. Some may call it stupid, but I'm going to put a $25 oil filter on my RX now. Thank you.

geez, talk about dumb, $150k?? that's a lot of labor
Why the hostility? It seemed to me that you were calling someone "the biggest tool you could ever meet", that isn't very nice.

Then "talk about dumb, $150K??". Maybe Wael has enough $$ that he doesn't really have to worry about investments.

I'm just firing back at you with the guns you brought to the party don't be so surprised you get what you dish out.

I've bought FDs that were pretty much stockers with a couple bolt-ons and they had receipts that were $10-12K for parts and labor over the past few years. One receipt comes to mind, new lightweight flywheel, clutch and labor installed in a 94 at Mazdatrix, $1441.

Wael's kids are nowhere near college age. He's selling the RX-7, and possibly his S2000 because he's buying a new Lotus Elise and doesn't need three sports cars...
