I wrote an extensive discussion of this on epinions.com and there are others worth reading there.

Mine is a daily driver only because I live across from my University so when the weather gets nasty or the car is down I can walk. Seeing how you live in NJ, I don't think I'd suggest it unless you have a back up for snowy days.

I did it for a year, but you end up regretting it the first time you see snow outside. As long as you have someone to rely on for rides when there's bad weather or the RX is on the disabled list.

I drive mine every day to and from work rain or snow. I've been doing it for 4 months and the car handles it as good as any other.
The problem is that I feel bad driving the car on wet/salty/rough roads. Also putting the miles on such a beutiful car is somewhat painful. Consequently, I've been looking for a beater tfor the past two weeks now.
If I were you, I'd plan on getting a beater even if you think driving the FD daily won't bother you.

I've been driving mine daily for about 3 going 4 years.
Nothing major has happen. But I am in the same boat with the others.
I hate putting all these miles on it. 96k original motor.
Plus dings, scrapes, always make you cringe...
But hey, what else would you rather be driving?
I know for a fact, when I carpool I totally miss my 7.
Strange but never felt like that with other cars I've own....
Also I know guys that bought their 7 @ the same time and are on
their 2-3 engine. So if you can't get rides I'd get a beater.

I've been daily driving mine for the 2 months I've owned it, and it's been great, until the engine blew thursday.
But i agree about the snow thing, they are horrible, no no, HORRIBLE in the snow, so if there's gonna be snow/ice in your area, seriously consider another car to drive when you just can't bear to take the FD out.

Mine is starting to resemble more of a race car than a daily driver, but I say go for it. The maintenance is the problem in my eyes. Oil changes every 1500miles, and new plugs every 5K miles. I had a set of plugs cause some detonation in the previous motor, so that's why I'm so **** about the plugs being changed. Snow with a factory RX isn't that bad. Not the greatest, but I got around just fine. You just need to know how to drive that's all. Once you go with an aftermarket wheel and tire combo though, the car sucks in the snow from my experience. I have 150K on my car now, and I love it. I drive it as much as I can, because honestly, when it comes to cars over 100K miles, everything starts being replaced anyway, so for me there isn't a difference in a car with 150K or 350K miles on it, if the records are there to show history. I say drive the car and enjoy it, unless you get a bone stock, 20K mile car, and want to keep it for collection purposes.

Mine is a daily driver, and is currently the only car I own. As long as you have the reliability mods done, the car is more than fine. It's still a car after all, and is meant to be driven.

i drive mine everyday...
BUT it will be a hasle if it is going to be your only car!!! due to experience... you will have to leave it at home once in a while... hehehe or even worst... you will have to leave it on the street and tow it!! hahaha... just kidn... am not trying to scare you..
If you take care of the car and have some money to spare... then there shouldnt be any problem...

Damn, I have owned my FD for about a year and a half and up until the last 2 weeks it was my daily. I hated every second of it, honestly. For every 2 times you have a great drive, there are 8 others that suck (salty/wet roads, parking in lots next to others, etc etc etc). I prefer to really drive my FD, not "commute" in it to school, the gym, work, or the mall. Racking up the miles really starts to bother you, and you get raped at the pump cause the MPG on these things blows and the cost for 93+ oct. is crazy. My parents would always get pissed at me, saying "It's a CAR....you're supposed to DRIVE it." Believe me though that is a lot easier said than done. I would highly recommend getting a daily driver/second car for those rare occations when you don't feel like taking the FD out of the garage...you will prob feel like that more often than not.

I'm a CF and poop smith
if you live in perfect weather, fd is a joy to drive. like Decay says though, you gotta park next to others when you go out though and that means the inevitable door dings as well as jackasses which might rear end you or what ever. I personnaly daily drive mines and love it cuz its so fun. I don't really care about door dings to as I'm soon have major body work plans on my car (full carbon as soon as I do my engine swap Perhaps I'll worry a bit more after I do that). If you do have enuf money, I would also agree with Decay in gettin a FC or a beater car (some times I which I had a real crap car so I could just go to the beach and not worry that much about my car being stolen...). Oh well, that's what insurance is for

Daily driver here since 93, living in Florida probably makes it easier to live with. They make decent daily drivers as long as you can afford to feed it, they get thirsty.

I am in Colorado and daily drove 70 miles round trip for about 2 years. I never had much trouble with driving in the snow.
I drive my beater now and recommend getting a cheap, reliable car for commuting. You can take your time with mods/repairs/etc. and it will save you money in the long run...

I drove mine daily for 2 1/2 years, and it only stranded me twice. Both of those times, something broke. I wore through my clutch plate, which I knew was on it's way out(so I can't complain about it), and I broke my right rear axle. The car didn't run perfectly a lot of the time(which was frustrating), but it always ran.
I just recently bought my daily driver. I'm glad I did though. As mentioned before, Boston roads are a ******* joke. It's inexcusable for the amount of taxes and parking/speeding tickets that we pay. Buying the daily also freed me up to not really care if it does break.
I loved driving it everyday, but it's getting a little older( I put on 35,000 miles a year), so it deserves a break. I've had no problems in adverse weather, other than submarine-ing in the snow this year(anyone know of a periscope mod?), in fact, I feel better in it than in my Monte.
If you do some reliability mods before you set out to make it faster, you should be fine.
It's a great car, enjoy it.

Did it strand you, or did it just not run right? There is a diffirence.
Mine honestly frustrated the **** out of me, but the fact remains that it did run everyday. I almost sold it twice, but I didn't as it's the only car i've lusted after in a long time, and it's got more potential than most cars.
I feel your pain. It makes a diffirence if you live near a reputable shop(I can't stress that enough). If you don't(as in Boston), it can be a hassle.
