FD Boost Issues - Need ideas..

Hi Guys,

Hope someone can give me some more ideas on some boost issues I am having,

Car: JDM 2001 Rx7

I have an intermittent problem with the car loosing boost in the higher rev range mainly. (I believe the 2nd turbo is sometimes not running full boost). on 'normal' operation I will see a boost pattern of 10-5-10. <- this is perhaps a problem too, but the car does run very well in 'normal' operation.

when the problem occurs its more like 10-5....... or sometimes even 5-5.....

Troubleshooting so far:

Replaced
* Black Solenoid/Vacuum Box (also tested all with multimeter and applied power)
* Solenoids outside box (2 turbo, and the other single one on UIM)
* Just about every vacuum hose I could get to (silicone and zip tied)
* all 4 check valves
* Replaced ECU with PowerFC
* General service (spark plugs, oil, new fuel, etc)

Any other suggestions? I am just about out of ideas..........

Thanks for the reply, I have gone through that and I beleive tested most items, last night I found the lower most (turbo) actuator had a slight split in the line, I replaced this but still the same issue.

I think I have tracked it down to either the turbo control actuator or charge relief actuator..

When I pull the main hose off the charge relief actuator there is no air noise (apparently meant to be vacuum???) any suggestions....

stock vacuum hose setup? the hose to the charge control actuator should have vacuum. check the hoses to it and check your check valves.

The valve flap between the two turbo's. Make sure the flap is opening and closing propely. If this isn't then the second turbo isn't kicking in. If you want to test it, pull the vacuum hose off and run the car. You might be running the car in non-sequential mode but you can see if the second turbo is kicking in. I removed the flap in mine for my non-sequential mode because the valve failed and the second turbo was not kicking in. I was getting 4-5PSI boost all through the rpm range.

yup, brand new check valves...... I think this is half my problems. I have replaced all vac hoses too.

I put a webcam under the car and reved to 5000rpm in neutral and both the turbo and charge actuators worked at 4500rpm.

not sure what the problem is but now its boost spiking on the first turbo, the powerFC reads 1.00+ .... Even free reving I am getting 8psi... WTF

Can anyone confirm on a late JDM where the turbo control actuator lines go, I just want to make sure something stupid has not happened like hooking the lines up wrong.

Its also running really ruff, backfiring, hesatation, ruff idle..... I disconnected the Double Throt. but that did not help, I checked TPS, looks ok, I checked Map Sensor and that is still connected, its got me stumped.
