Question FC motor in FD?

Alright, I have been looking at 7's for sometime now, but am still torn between the FC and FD. I would like an FD, but the fact that the engine starts to go around 100k compared to the FC's 120-140k, I would rather have the extra 20k. So I was thinking about getting an FD, one without the engine since I would like to drop in a TII engine. Here's my question though, what all would have to be changed out? I know that I would have to get custom made mounts for the engine since the FD's are in the rear and the FC's are in the middle. But what else would have to be changed out.

I am thinking about doing this just because I know more about the FC and my friends know everything about the engine on the FC compared to the FD's Twin Turbo. How well do you think this would work out? Or would I be better off sticking with just a plain FC or FD instead? Thanks

Try driving a healthy FC and then a healthy FD.
Your current approach may be abandoned.

I have ridden in both before and must say that both are very nice, the FD is remarkable as a whole, but the engine is the only thing that makes me shy away just because of the twin turbo and the fact that replacing them or the engine as a whole is a lot more than having to do it to an FC. But I like the FD body to much, thats why I was thinking of doing this instead. Upgrades would definately be made though if I were to do this. I just need to know what else needs to be done for this to work.

actually the motors are mostly the same, you would benifit more from ditching the fd turbos and putting an fc one on. its a bolt on too, except for the dp

I don't think putting an FC engine in an FD is a very good idea. Once you get down to the engine block, they're pretty much identical. Instead of putting in a TII engine, you'd be better off making the stock FD motor nonsequential, doing the reliability and simplification mods. You could even turn your boost down to 7psi to try and simulate the TII engine, and add some reliability

Never said that I didn't want to rebuild the motor when it is shot. I will rebuild it, its just that when it comes to rebuilding the FC engine, it will be cheaper more than likely, because it isn't a twin turbo, along with other parts. I am just wondering if this would be easy to go about doing, or will there be a lot of problems. I am choosing the FC TII engine because I know more about it, and my friends know everything about the engine, and car in general.

just put the fc turbo on the fd. the only differences on the fd motor are the sequential control system, and no afm. EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS THE SAME, you can put an fd ecu in your fc if you want to

How would rebuilding an FC motor be cheaper than an FD motor? If we are just talking about the motor and not all the other crap that bolts on they are essentially the same thing.. you're just as likely to blow a TII motor as you are a 13B-REW when you get into modding and tuning, I fail to understand your logic in this. If you get an FD just ditch the stock twins and put on a small single, it will simplify things a whole lot. Sounds to me more like you should get an FC.

if your budget is tight dont get the fd. the short block of the fd and fc are almost identical except for very minor cahnges and rebuilding it will not cost a noticeble diffrence more.
