FC Faster???
I have a question that has been bothering me for a long time, and I figured that I would ask the FD group, since you all seem a little more educated. I have a heavily modified FC, and I was wondering if 400hp went further in an FC than in an FD, because I have been told many different things. All feedback will be appreciated.
its all about weight and gearing....
a 400 hp fc has the same basic power curve as a 400 hp fd (assuming its a single)
so i guess whichever is lighter will win... probably a very close race tho

the FD is lighter, so i would assume that it would win the race. Not to mention much more aerodynamic. 400 horsepower in either car to be honest is pretty much gonna come down to the drivers skill. if the drivers were the same then the FD is gonna win.

same engine, same modifications, same power, then everything comes down to handling and body design, Mazda designed FD to replace FC for a reason, so FD must be better, FC are still great cars, i still miss my FC a lot!

true, but its just so much harder to get that p range on an fc than it is on an fd.

Hell, if anything it's cheaper to do it on an FC.
my car weighs less than a lot of your FDs...
and our gearing is basically the same until 4th and 5th gear.
and FCs and FDs both have about the same coefficient of drag. .29-.31 depending on body mods and whatnot.
(edit: not that I wouldn't have bought a $150 FD instead of a $150 FC, if the chance had presented itself

Wow there sure is a lot of misinformation here.
The FC is plenty capable as a circuit racing car. People assume it's a heavy pig, doesn't handle well and has the aerodynamics of a brick or something. True, towards the end of its run the FC did get a little porky. The 1991 Turbo II curb weight is listed as 2987 lbs. The 1988 is 2850 lbs. The aerodynamics are fine and its suspension layout is pretty similar to the FD. It handles pretty freakin nicely.
Anyway, the FC is mostly capable of doing everything an FD can do. No, there aren't twin turbo options. No, the body isn't as stiff as an FD. In stock form the FD is a rather large improvement over the FC but once tuned the gap becomes much narrower.
