Faulty oil pressure gauge

My oil pressure gauage has been jumping around recently. At times it seems to be normal but other times it will jump all up and down the guage. The oil lines dont seem to have any leaks and the oil buzzer doesnt come on or anything. Is there anyway to check if the guage is bad? or does anyone know a way to fix it?

do a search - it's probably the electrical connection on the sender.

OR...perhaps the actual Sender needs to be replaced.

It's the sending unit, just replaced mine. It's kind of a pain to get to, under the oil filter. Mine was leaking oil, so I had to change it.

The senders are notorious for failing on the FD. 9 times out of 10, it's gonna just need a new sender. I think they're like $80-100 or so, not too bad to change out.

Mines dead too, so I'm thinking of getting an aftermarket jobby, I can get Spa gauges for a reasonable price

Also, if you replace the sender, put some high temp rtv on the threads. Let it dry for a day. This will prevent a little oil seepage. My sensor was leaking oil, and giving an erractic reading to the guage. New one fixed all that.

Mine likes to die at idle about 50% of the time. After revving, it wakes back up and reads correclty.

Just like Wrankin wrote, it's probably the electrical connection--since it's intermittent. Clean/sand the male and female connections with emory-cloth or 320 sandpaper and contact cleaner to begin/test, and replace the sender if problem persists. When installing the new unit coat the entire connection (after install.) w/ RTV as the stock connecter is an "open" to not only atmosphere (read: moisture and oxidation) but spilled oil and debris attracted to the oil from its location under the filter.
