FAN COOLING MOD...30 second job
I saw a post by Twinturboteddy awhile back saying to pull the A/C fuse as a cheap fan trick? Ie/ when u turn on the AC, the AC won't work, but the fans will go on high?
Anybody try this? Are there any side effects to doing this? Ie/ is the A/C system completely non-functional with the 15A fuse pulled, no gas circulating, nothing on the AC side operating?
Thanks

Another idea would be to rewire the fuse and run it inside the car within your reach, so you could pull the fuse as you wanted, or pop it back in and use the AC. Or wire up a switch, so on) compressor is on, off) compressor is off. Just a quick 10 second thinking there, dont know if it would actually work yet or not.

Two minute fix:
Take the kick panel off of the passanger side.
Attach a wire to the lose wire from the fan relay, attach that wire to a on/off switch.
Attach another wire to the other lead on the switch and ground it.
Voila.
Turn on switch for two minutes and both fans come on medium.
If you leave the switch on it will leave the fans running for 10 minutes on medium after you shut the car off.
Sometimes, if the temp is very hot, even if you turn off the fan switch after turning off the engine, the fans will run for 10 minutes on low.
Here in Southern California, I always drive with the fans on, and it keeps my temps around 86 normal cruising, and around 93 when driving hard.

I have done this A/C trick. I have had mine pulled for the last 2 months or so. It works great at keeping the car cool but you won't be if you are used to running with the A/C. With the replay pulled the A/C becomes non-functional. The computer will think that the A/C is on, thus kicking on the fans, but as far as I can tell nothing under the hood A/C wise comes on.

There is a single black wire (with connector) coming out of the ECU that is not attached to anything. To test the fans you need to attach this wire to ground for two minutes while the car is running. With the wire still grounded, turn the car off and the fans will stay on. After 30 seconds, un-ground the wire and the fans switch to low speed. The fans stay on for ten minutes.
The ECU is down in the passenger side foot well. You need to pop off the door sill trim and then pop up and remove all the fasteners holding the foot well panel. Best to go slow with this as the plastic stuff will crack easily. Once the panel is removed you can see the ECU mounted to the chassis. The test lead on mine was just hanging there, toward the front, but I remember someone saying they had to remove the ECU from its mount to get it.
The lead is black and has a female spade connector on it. You should test the circuit first to be sure it works. I used a male spade connector end and an alligator clip test wire. Connect it to ground for a little more than 2 minutes while the car is running. Turn the car all the way off and the fans should be running. After 30 seconds disconnect the wire from ground and the fans should switch to low speed and stay on for 10 minutes (it's timed not temp controlled). "
Basically connect this wire to a switch so you can ground the wire whenever you want to. Turn on 2 minutes before shutting the car down and the fans will run for 10 minutes on high speed. Unground the wire 30 secs after being on and they will run on low speed. Runs for the ten minutes.

A couple of other things you can do is change out the coolant thermoswitch for a Miata one. it is a straight replacement and this turns your fans on earlier than the stock one. There is also the air-conditoning POS that is blocking air to your radiator, unloosen the top mounts and bend it downwards. This allows a little more fresh air to pass through the rad. If you had some coffee you could be creative and modify some aluminum sheets to force the air through.
