A new fender from Mazda about a year and a half ago was ~$150. Add paint and labor and your probably looking in the $400 range.

A new fender is only ~$200 and is easily bolted on. Just get a body shop to paint the new fender to match. I know you feel bad that the car isn't "virgin" anymore but in the end, it could have been much worse.

Good luck.
Ditto, that's the best place to get hit on an FD. Just get a new fender from Mazda ($150-200 depending on discount). Matching your paint depends on the color and oxidation. If it's black like mine then no problem matching. Hell, just get the new fender, drop it off at a body shop to be painted, pick it up, then bolt on. Just need to remove the front bumper and inner fender to get at all the bolts.

Now I clipped the LR once and it was like $1500. Had to replace the fuel door and cracked the tail lamp. Not happy that day

You're lucky, deer usually mess up a car much more than that.

If nothing else this technique guarantees you will not get hit on the side of your car again...

clint034 - a common reaction to a horribly uncomprehendable situation is humor (often followed by sarcasim). We are all just trying to cope with the possibility that this kind of thing could possible happen to us too and there is not a damn thing we can do about it...

But seriously the number of things that could have been worse in this incident are tremendous. Consider yourself lucky - you will get it back in shape and soon forget it. I doubt the deer was so lucky.

Yeah... I know. Thanks for all the replies. The car is in my uncle's autobody shop. It should be ready to roll by Saturday. I live in NorthWest AL... close to Florence if anyone has ever heard of it.

A deer hit me too! Actually, I was driving back from a Spurs semifinals game from San Antonio. About 3 miles from my home, a deer jumps out on the road and I tag it's hind quarters with my headlight. It caused very minor frame damage. The headlight exploded into tiny pieces and the deer kept going it's merry way.

Had I gone a bit faster, the deer could've been in the passenger seat. If I went 130mph, I would've avoided the deer, but not the cops.

you should get laser beams on your car so you can fry anything that might get in your way or hit you

I doubt you will be able to find a fender that will match perfectly, alot of them have already been repainted due to the poor paint mazda used. Mine has been repainted, the job turned out nice but you can see the differance in the door jambs. It looks like you will be getting a new paint job. This could be bad news or it could be good news. Good luck...

Was the car white or CYM? I hear that they tend to charge lighter color and white cars? I had a brand new 91 White CRX Si with about 5K miles on it and a deer ran right into it broadside from an open field. I did not know what was going to happen until about a split second before it impacted the car. Smashed the passenger door and rear quarter panel in.

Insurance paid for it, but it was not the same.

Tim

PS The deer did survive and just walked away.
