F**cking deer hit the FD

I have only had the car for 2 weeks.. the damn thing had never been in an accident before. I was driving to school doing about 40 in this big turn on a 2 lane road. The side of the road is all grew up and you cannot see very well. Anyways.. next thing I know the damn doe deer runs right into my front left fender. Big *** dent with creases. What does everyone recommend me doing to fix this.. replace that panel of the car? will colors match? etc. thanks.

depends if there is frame damage or not, if so I would straighten it out then replace the fender with a new or used one.

No the car did not hit the car. I was driving along and saw something out of the corner of my eye and a split second later it all happened. The dent is on the side of the car so yeah the deer hit the car.

It's true. I was checking out deerclub.com and someone was bitching about an RX-7 right in his path. He tried to swerve, but it was too late.

Dude it wasnt my fault. What if it happened to you? Just think about it and quit joking.. It is gonna cost me to get the damn thing fixed and it will never be the same. Is there any mechanics around that could give me a price that i'm facing?? Thanks.

Wow that would have to be one hell of a deer to cause frame damage. Hope all goes well in fixing your car.

At least you didn't hit it head on. Then you may need a new bumper, hood, and windshield if it flipped up onto the hood. That would be much more expensive.

this is what insurance is for...there are plenty of body shops that do quality work, so your comment that it will never be the same is total deer, uh, bullsh*t.

just buy a new fender have it repainted to match exactly.....or tell your insurance company what happened and depending on your plan they might have to pay for it all....so do some research outside of this forum good luck man

If you have full coverage insurance, this will be considered comprehensive damage. Many times deductibles are lower for comprehensive than collision. If you don't have insurance, check with a local body shop. Maybe you can do some of the work, and get a discount.

It's very unlikely that you have frame damage.

Frame damage? From a deer running into the side of the car?

I was driving my FC in the back woods in VA and saw a bunch of deer on the right...got closer and thought it would be a good idea to honk and scare them...so I do. They start off back into the woods...To celebrate my victory I start flashing my brights...bad idea. The deer got so confused they started running in every direction and as I'm passing one of them ran into my passenger side window/door. I freaked and stopped and went back to see if I killed it, but it ran off...luckily there was no damage. I guess his face it the window, hahaha!!! Maybe some scratches on the door, but nothing worth getting repaired.

Yeah I'd say the Deer has more "Frame" damage than you ! And it probhably more likely to run into a head-on collision with a bullet, than it was before, if not allready dead in the bushes...

Relax Man ! A good body shop will make it all better and if you're lucky you'll get a new front end or a substancial amount towards a new "Fender" kit... weather custum or OEM, is probhably in the end between you and the body shop...

It sucks that you had a deer collision, but you got hit in the best place. If you got hit in the rear quarter, you would be looking at a $2000 repair, trust me....

A new fender is only ~$200 and is easily bolted on. Just get a body shop to paint the new fender to match. I know you feel bad that the car isn't "virgin" anymore but in the end, it could have been much worse.

Good luck.

Hey Clint, I see that you are from Bama,
Where do you live? I do minor body work and so forth and I can get you a panel fairly cheap and get it painted for you. PM me sometimes.

I live in Pelham, AL. You are probably new to the forum. You need to come to the next Alabama Mazda Rotary Club meet sometimes.

Since states regulate deer and issue permits to hunt them, sue the state.

How about uninsured motorist/deer!
