Method 1: There is the chizzle method, where you hammer the lock with the sharp chizzle, on its side, to create a little nick then you use the flat chizzle to hit the lock counter clockwise.

Method 2: Hammer a socket, that fits tightly, onto the top until it is very snug. Then use the ratchet to get it out. You could waste a few sockets using this method.

Does that tool work on every single type of wheel lock? I've never seen a wheel lock extraction tool. Those methods are just ways I've learned through people who work at wheel/tire shops.

There are wheel lock extractors that remove the wheel locks and damaged lug nuts. In fact, yesterday I saw a set at my local SEARS. They essentially screw on over the lip of the wheel lug. The other way, would be to screw into the inside of the lug...depending on what type of wheel lock you have. About $20 I think....if I remember correctly.

Most of the lock sets I've seen (4 sets so far) all use the same OEM "key", assuming of course you have an OEM set of locks on your car. Might try giving Ray a call to confirm. If so he can overnight a new set which includes the key.

An acquaintence, who has a less than honorable past, told me that he used a large stud remover to get wheel locks off. He even showed me one. It's like a large socket that has splines on the inside made in such a way that as you try to loosen the nut it grips tighter. Kind of like the opposite of a screw extractor. You can get them at Sears. He said there's not a lock made he can't get off with one.

This is a oem wheel lock. I called my closest mazda dealership if I could get a key. They said it is impossible because they do not sell just the key and that it will take a special mazda technician to take my lock off.

i'd do the socket idea....if you dont feel like doing it....take it to a local tire shop they should do it for you....
then just pick up a new set of locks...you'll be good as new...

Same experience at my local Mazda dealership. I misplaced my wheel lock key and I headed over to the Mazda dealer to order a new one. I actually had the little bag the key originally came in which has the key number and possibly some other info that identifies my key and lock set.

According to the parts counter guy, its impossible to get a replacement becuase theres no way to tell what key I have. He was either too lazy to look up the info on my key or its really impossible to get a replacement. He did try to get me to schedule an appointment with the tech to have my locks "professionally removed."

I ended up using a crappy socket to remove the locks. Hammer it over the lock and use your favorite breaker bar to remove it. This messes up the locks btw. Unfortunately for me, my wheel lock key appeared a few days later.

use the extractor

If you don't care about the lock and can't find a working key, then use the extractor. You can buy the extractors at Home Depot (Irwin brand probably) or Sears cheaply enough.

I've used these on wheel locks with success before.

Then buy another set of wheel locks and a key from me xD

Just go grab some ******' Vise Grips and be done with the ******' thing for God's sake! It takes about 9 seconds, you'd have been done hours ago already! And if you use GENUINE Vise-Grips you won't even **** up the wheel lock too bad. Trick is to get them on as tight as you can, and not have it turn on the lock.
