extra injector question

extra injector question
Recently I saw an FD that had a secondary fuel injector screwed into (installed) on the bottom side of the intake elbow, right before the bend into the throttle body. The mechanic that was working on it (god help him) said this is "standard" for adding an extra injector (maybe he meant on other cars, idk) ... the only thing he didn't know or couldn't figure out, was HOW to connect it/hook it up and control it with the stock ecu.
I'm curious, since I've never heard of this, how an extra injector is setup? Wouldn't it be placed where the other Fuel Injectors are? I don't recall the exact cc rating, I think it was a stock secondary. If this is normal to hook it up to the intake elbow, how is it connected? Can it be controlled by the stock ecu, or is a PFC or piggyback required.
Inquiring minds want to know...

A piggyback or addon controller is needed for that application such as the HKS AIC.
It is an old school way of adding more fuel. Back in the day, programmable ECU's like the PFC didn't exist. In that case, they were unable to change out the stock injectors and return. So, they added extra injectors and used an injector controller combined with a fuel cut defensor.
Now a days, things like the PFC remove the need for such setups.

I don't know how many injectors the PFC can control at once. You should ask that question in the PFC forum. However, the need for extra injectors at the lower HP ranges has been negated by the programmable ECU's like the PFC, Haltech and others. Now, you can simply replace the stock injectors with larger ones, and then tune the car.

i have a split second additional injector controller on my car, i have 2 extra 750cc injectors in my greddy elbow. works great for running high boost. i run around daily @ 15 psi no problem. you might as well upgrade your stockers though, the kit is like 500-600 bucks anyway. (aic, bungs, injectors, and tuning)
