exhaust wrap for downpipe??

My HKS DP came in today. Do most of you put exhaust wrap on it before you put it on or do you just run it plain? The wrap is only about 15 bucks from Jegs so taht is pretty cheap if it works.
Let me know what you think.....also.. I got my DP from Dusty at www.mvpmotorsports.com he is awesome.. EXCELLENT service. it was here in like 2 days!

I wrapped mine. Which is stainless steel. Can`t help but keep down the heat in the engine compartment.

Oh yes, that's what you need... More heat in the engine compartment.. pfft! What's the point of wrapping a DP with insulation anyways? Anyone?

You wrap your D.P. to keep the heat in the D.P. the hotter the air the faster it moves, the faster it moves the quicker it will spool, also keeps the heat out of engine compartment, better breathing, less wear on parts under the hood, definately wrap your D.P.,not to is just being lazy.

Toadman, I think you need to reread my post. I said wrap you`r DP to keep the temp. down, as in lower, in you`r eng. compartment not to keep the temp. in you`r eng. compartment.

Sorry.. I stand corrected. But in sunbelt states is it worth the insulation? I was considering heatsoak, that's all.

As far as living in a sun belt state goes, I live in FL and I did it.

Why would you want to keep the precat?

Why I am keeping the precat

1. I'm cheap
2. I have an efini Y-pipe and K&N filter and already hit the fuel cut at 12.5 (at wot going up hill)
3. My next mod will require an ECU upgrade. I have an auto-trans and most of the aftermarket ECU's are for manual-trans only.

Pettit column boost gauge
RP AST
efini Y-pipe
K&N air filter
