Normal should be around 800 to 900, depending on your mods and driving.

Leaner will be on the high end, richer will be on the lower end.

 

Atilla is right on the money. I see about 850C at cruise (5th gear, 3000 rpm, 80 mph, and my A/F reading about 14.7) and around 500C (I think) at idle. It differs with driving conditions of course. Just for reference my sensor is mounted in the exhaust manifold before the turbos on the #2 rotor.

Where is the best place to put it.. I have a spot on my dp...about 10 inches from the exhaust manifold....is that a good place ????

usually, the farther you put the sensor from the turbos/manifold, the colder and less responsive the temp. will be.

 

If you put it on the downpipe, you want it to be in the 700 range. Anything higher then 800 and your asking for trouble.

 

I am about ready to install an egt as well, I noticed Magnificent7 has his mounted before the turbos. Is this better than in the downpipe right at the turbo outlet? I am just asking for my own reference, I want to put my gauge in the best possible spot. Thanks.

 

I thought that mounting the sensor in the manifold, as opposed to in the downpipe, would provide a more accurate indication of what the actual exhaust temps were. It was easy for me as I had the sensor installed in the manifold while the engine was being changed out. I don't know if I would go to the trouble to remove the turbos if I didn't have to. Then again I don't know that I would be satisfied with the diminished accuracy of the gauge if it was mounted in the DP. I'm pretty picky about things like that. Hell, I'm pretty picky in general. It's your choice though. Good luck.
