exhaust....no fart can?

well i want an exhaust....but is there anything besides getting a large chrome muffler sticking out the back? i dont really mind the look, i'd just rather go with the more sleeper effect, maybe something like a flowmaster muffler (however i've heard flowmaster sucks on rotary)...so any ideas? what do you guys run for better flow/throaty sound...but not too flashy?

how does a glasspack sound....i know it made my old car a little louder, but smoother and more throaty, how does it sound on a rotary? like crap?

An HKS is pretty subtle. There aren't any chromed exhausts, you are talking about polished stainless steel (ala Racing Beat). Trust me, the Racing Beat is not overly flashy, as that's not my style either.

I still say that a homemade straight pipe back from the cat is the best exhaust. The least weight, the least restriction and the cheapest. It isn't even that loud if you still have both cats. You could build one yourself from all stainless for less than $150. I am building mine from aluminized steel with a nice chrome tip to save costs. My total costs are $80. I drew it all in CAD and could share it in SolidWorks with others once I make sure it all fits.

Peter Farrell exhaust. Good flow and not that big, but not my style. I love my Greddy SP

If you want to go super ghetto you could stick with stock and cut the baffle out of the muffler and widen the inlet.

The RB dual tip is the choice of most that don't want too much noise. Good performance. Quality materials.

I have a HKS Super Dragger, a fruit cannon out the back but it definetely doesn't have a fart sound to it. Its very throaty and looks very menacing on a FD.

Just my opinion though...

So, does a RB exhaust provide as much performance benefit as a Greddy or Apexi? I haven't seen or read much on this anywhere (even outside this site).

HKS Hiper. 3" piping, all pieces- hangers, piping, and muffler welded into one piece. Perfect fitiment. Full stainless steel construction. Excellent quality, sound, and performance. $329. HKS. I find it hard to argue. It won't look ricey with the full size piping and cannister coming out the back. Rice parts will look like they were made for two stroke motorcycles when you compare them to this. If you are looking for something that sounds good, provides additional performance over stock, and doesn't attract attention, go with the M2 or Racing Beat Single/Dual tip exhaust setup.

Buy a used HKS or Racing Beat from someone on the forum. There's always someone selling here.

The sandrails with single turbos run a supertrap. I think they sound killer. Not to loud either.
