Exhaust ID?

Hey Guys and Gals,

I have recently purchased a '92 JDM RX-7 FD3S, but I have a 'mystery' exhaust. Could anyone shed any light on the make of the exhaust. I looked underneath the muffler itself and stamped was: JAZMA 001

Thanks for any help in identifying the exhaust.

Cal Tat

It looks like it might be Apexi GT spec. Do you have any closer shots of it?

Hard to say - there's a ton of canister style exhausts available in Japan. JASMA is simply a certification association - a JASMA certified muffler meets certain criteria making it road worthy.

I really wish there was a way to look the JASMA numbers up, but I've yet to find it. I've come across a few mystery exhausts myself.

Might want to clean the muffler up good and study the tip and the can to make sure there isn't any writing on it - sometimes logos will be laser etched into the tip, or stamped into the bottom of the muffler.

Just cleaned up the muffler, no laser etching on the tip or otherwise.

Look for a product called Blue Magic Metal Polish:

http://www.botac.com/blumagmetpol.html

I use it on all my cars for the exhaust pieces. Works great.

I've yet to have an exhaust set it on fire in 4 years and 3 vehicles.

I polished my D/P like 4 months ago and it's being put on now... can it catch on fire? I dried it pretty well. I used Mother's.

I personally have never seen any of that stuff ignite from polishing a catback. You are suppose to wipe any residue off before buffing anyways so it's IMO extremely rare that something like that would happen.

yeah unless on the bottle it says extremly flammable lol i guess it doesnt ignite untill high heat but the slowly heating up wil most likely dissolve any residue.

the canister itself reminds me of a Fujitsubo... but there really is no way to tell without any tell-tale markings.
