Exhaust for FD

I am looking for an exhaust for a FD, i want as much performance gain as I can get... but i dont want it crazy loud, medium loudness is okay. I also though dont want that nasty ricer farty noise. Does anyone have any reccomendations?

Stick with an exhaust with a real muffler and not a cannister-style and you will be good to go -- Racing Beat, PFS, Greddy SP/PE.

when i bought my car it had a Racing beat dual tip. I traded it for a HKS hi-power and i found the tone and the loadness the same. granted i still have the stock main cat. i know once that is switched out for a mp then the differences will show.

Don't worry about the performance difference, if I'm not mistaken, the difference between x, y, and z aftermarket exhaust will be very minimal and only get marginal if you're doing 600hp and the difference is a full inch in circumference.

That said; please keep your FD from sounding like a civic and drop everything else and just get the RB Duals.

As someone said before, /thread. :P

I have an St May exhaust strait from japan and love it. When i had a main cat it was damn quiet and with a midpipe its noticably quieter than my friends hks Carbon Ti. But again this is a muffler style so i would definetly go with something like that. RSR actually makes a really nice catback with a muffler RSR EX-Mag.

Do you have a downpipe yet? Do that first and then get a catback. The RX-7 store sells a decent one for 110 bucks.

^^Yes, a downpipe is not only a performance mod but also a reliability mod. It will make a world of difference in the sound with any exhaust and it will also be good for the engine too.

Have a search on www.smb.net.au exhausts...

Have a look at the exhaust my car has on it (Previously posted a bit about it on this forum..)

Definately NOT loud, ricey, fart cannish etc..

However it does offer 3.5" and a high flow 4" metal substrate cat..and possibly the best note I have heard from any rotary exhaust (!3BT..20BT's and PP's don't count!!)

Not to mention with the pathetic exchange rate your $US will prob end up paying less than I paid including freight!!

If I knew anyone with a video camera and the necessary skills I could even get some sounds...damn hard to find someone though!!

If you have access to an exhaust shop, preferably one that caters to hot rods, have them build you a full 3" setup.

Buying a name brand piece of metal pipe, is borderline retarded. And expensive.

Have the Border Burnout exhaust form Japan. Its a straight piped 3" from the DP back. Very loud, very expensive and will never meet emissions, but its not ricey. Very deep sounding.
