I didn't listen to the clip, but keep in mind that even getting the same BOV as one you have heard won't necessarily produce the same sound on your car unless you are producing the same amount of boost as the car you originally heard.

I heard that exact smae blow off valve on a Buick Grand National one day at the local drag strip. It sounds incredible in person, but I was unable to track the guy down to find out what kind it is.

i think that is the sound coming from the turbo itself. there is a term for it but i dont know what it is. my car makes that sound but louder. i have the tial bov if it really is the bov that makes that sound.

Yeah when my BOV (apexi) makes that noise I know it's surging because the shaft is sticking, and I have to disassemble it and clean the shaft off... then it's a nice normal psssshhhh sound again.

Even if the links don't work, I have all of those sounds... grabbed 'em from the old HiRPM site back when it was still online.

I assume the sound you mean is the "rx7turbo" file? That's compressor surge. The car in question had *no* blowoff valve.

Some BOV's do sound like that.... because it's too small/too stiff and the turbo is going into compressor surge anyway.

compressor surge IS bad. that is the whole reason why BOVs were created, to prevent compressor surge.
