Ever been behind a FD @ WOT?

God, I feel bad for anyone who is behind me when I stab the gas.

Has anyone ever been behind one when it happens? Can you breath? Does it smell like a gas station? Do you get droplets of gas on your car?

Or does it not look quite so bad from behind?

I've never personally been behind my car, but my brother has been and he said my car smells awful! I'm running a resonated MP.

I think with all emissions still working it wouldn't be too bad.

My car smells like ****! I have a 4" pipe going from the catback all the way to the downpipe. I have no idea what other people experience, but I'm guessing its not fun to smell or be behind, but great to watch .

Don't forget to pop your hood after you drive to see if your turbo glows.

my dad followed me back from the track one day, he said his eyes started to water so he had to fall back farther to keep from hurting his eyes.

IMO, being behind a rotary with staight pipes is no different than a Mustang, truck or most other cars without cat converters.

Except FD's, for the most part, are tuned stupid ritch and burn oil. The one time that i've ever SEEN a FD, the exhaust smell wasn't all too bad (III Gen X on the forum's car)

what is the difference in fumes and sound/decibel level between a high flow cat and a resonated midpipe... I have the Greddy SP cat back and a downpipe and its moderately loud now as is!

Since FD's are almost always in front..... I have never been behind one at WOT. But I know my car stinks with a DP, metallic cat and RB exhaust. It is very quiet around town but at WOT it screams just like a mid-pipe. I love the metallic cat.

When you do get a whiff, it really is hard to believe that at one time, EVERY car on the road had no emissions whatsoever!

The only thing that makes the FD worse than others is the relatively rich mixture it runs, particularly at WOT... never mind whatever oil blowby, carbon, or burnt pre-mix its belching out.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA I live outside Ann Arbor, Hippie Capitol of the Midwest (if not the country). It's awesme to drive my '82 12a with the Holly 465 and full RB exhaust, with rich pre-mix mixture and 2k idle. I get nasty looks all the time, people have given me the finger, and one guy went so far as to pull up next to me in the turn lane in his Prius and yell at me about distroying the environment. I just smiled and said "ya, and...?" He wasn't happy.

In my area, we just have visual emmision inspections. Even those are half arsed. Also, we have a Ford plant here so as you can imagine there are tons of Mustangs on the roads (as well as F-150s). Most of them remove their cats and drive around and then just put the cat back on for their 2 year inspection. So, unless I have the A/C on with recirulation enabled, I get a wiff of it every day.

From the FD's in our area (which most of them run midpipes), the other cars don't seem to be any worse than those. Now the smaller engine cars like Civics and such don't seem to really emit anything which that would be a huge difference comparing to a rotary engine.

I was following behind Merciless' FD after a meet when he went WOT and yeah I do remember it being very stinky.

It's funny, I just got a catback installed on my car and I noticed other vehicles keeping there distance behind my car...probably because its extra smelly or something.
