Red face Error Code 13 Pressure sensor....won't go away !

Hey guys, I keep getting an error code 13 which is the pressure sensor code aka Map sensor. I've since changed the sensor and thoroughly cleaned off all the connectors with electrical cleanser. Also reset the ECU about 7 times..........damn code still coming at me. Car runs fine but I'm getting smoke on idle.........tons of it prolly not related. Anyhow, I am trying to get to the bottom of the code 13. Mechanic says possibly ECU problem........ ?? Any ideas ? Thank you.

BUMP! i currently have the same problem. it puts my car into limp mode, reset ecu too many times to keep count, replaced sensor and ecu. my manual says to check the volts on the sensor side and ecu side. i got the 5v on ecu side but sensor side i only got .11. which means there's a possible short or open circuit somewhere? i've spent the past week trying to figure it out and nothing works. anybody got any ideas?

if sensors fine and ECU is changed for a know good one,,that leaves only 1 thing,,,,wiring problem..you gonna have to do some wiring checking

what other wires am i to check. so far i know it's good on the ecu end but not as good on the sensor end. is there something in between or is it just one wire all the way through?

wire all the way through,,,,as you getting really low volts i think its shorting to ground or another wire somewhere,,,,so i think your looking for a broken or bare wire, (u may end up having to untape the harness to find the wire),, to find out if its shorting to ground set a multimeter to ohms turn ignition off,,,and check for continuity between the low voltage wire and an earth point

but pull the harness off the ecu first do not ohm solid state stuff unless you are sure. does sound like a wiring prob. you have 5v going to the sensor. where are you reading the.11 from

check for a short in a harness in the passenger side front wheelwell.there is a harness in there which if the car was in an accident and the harness is not routed properly. the tire will rub the plastic in the wheelwell and hit the harness.something to check.

Disconnect the MAP sensor and the ECU and check for end-to-end continuity for each of the 3 separate MAP sensor wires (one is probably connected to a common ground or +12v, rather than a third separate pin on the ECU side). Also check to see if the wires have been grounded (e.g. insulation cut my chassis metal). A third possibility is that one or both of the wires have been shorted with another wire in the harness -- you could check for continuity with other wires, too.

It seems clear that there is a wiring problem. The only other alternative I can think of is a bad ECU (unlikely).

from the end of the wire. through the little rubber piece that holds the br/w wire in on each end

I have the same problem! Have tried 3 pressure sensors, another ecu and reset the system countless times but it still throws up code 13. Symptoms are as soon as 0 hg is reached engine cuts and backfires.

Did anyone get theirs sorted?

BIG bump

I'd like to know too.
Code 13 wont go away.

I tried looping around the wheelarch wiring with three new wires, that would delete the error, but the engine would'nt fire. SIGH

I'll check the wiring harness for shorts tomorrow, i measured just a tit of continuity between b/lg and br/w

DOH my bad.
When soldering the wiring harness, i accidently swapped Map signal and a wire for the ABS unit - they are same color and dimension. Damn You Mazda.
