Engine Just Blew?

Engine Just Blew?
Ok so get this, I bring my car to my friends auto shop to get some problems fixed on my car. I brought it in the shop in working condition, basically it was having some mis fires. After several days of working on it he tells me I got several vacuum leaks and my turbo is leaking oil badly. THen he tells me that my engine keeps flooding and that my electrical system is broken. After all this he tells me that the engine simply won't start anymore. He supposedly asked some other RX-7 experts to come take a look at the car and came with the conclusion that the engine was blown. I'm like WTF?! how could this be???? The engine has 66k miles on it and I just bought it 2 months ago from another semi mechanic. Is there a possiblity of an engine blowing so easily with this type of mileage???? Or does anyone else believe that my friend basically fucked something up???? Just like I believe he did.

sure it is possible the engine is blown. is it likely? no.
when my car was at the body shop, it sat for like 2 weeks, then, when they tried to start it, it wouldn't. the charged the battery, changed the plugs and it started up.
if your turbos are leaking oil, you should see blue smoke coming out of the exhaust.
sounds like your mechanic doesn't know what he's talking about and is just making **** up.
i;m sure other people will chime in on good rotary mechanics in the NY area -
btw, are you freezing you *** off up there?
(this reminds me of the stories you hear from people who bought the car in the 90s, took them to the dealers for problems, and engines were just replaced when the problem was something simple)

How does he know the engine is blown? Has he done a compression check? Thats the only surefire way of telling the engine condition that I know of.
Woord of warning most mechanics are not familiar with how a rotary engine woorks and is set up, this goes for mazda dealers as well. If you have to let someone else work on tyour cars engine then you chould take it to a rotary shop.

Well supposedly my friend asked two performace shop workers who worked on RX-7s before and looked at the engine and they came up with the conclusion that the eas blown. ANd ofcourse they didn't open the engine up or did a compression test either. When they try to start the engine it just keeps flooding and it won't start. The plugs have been changed recently as well and the battery is new. Any other ideas?

i think (but am not sure) that most people have found that even with a blown engine, the engine will start - it'll just run very rough.
i would suggest one of two things -
either call a tow truck and have it towed to the local mazda dealer and have them do a compression check on the car, or
let us know what city you live in, and we'll find a good rotary mechanic up there.

here is a link to the tri-state club in your area. a list of rotary mechanics in the area is here http://www.tristaterx7.org/index2.html
you could also search through the memebers and probably find someone near you to talk to

I have the car at my friend's house now since I returned the plates and I'm currently located in White Plains which is above the Bronx. I also got a place in Manhattan. Any known rotary experts? I need a good one for sure since one of my friend's friend ruined my car badly thinking he could fix it since he is a mechanic.

there is one close in NJ and another one in Elmont LI, both are very knowledgable, but if you are not sure what is wrong with the car I think it is probably worth the trip to KD Rotary in PA.

well I know for a fact my engine is blown and I'm gonna probably spend 6k on reman engine with new turbos since its leaking oil badly along with other mods like radiator, silicone hoses, down pipe, etc. I don't know if I would want to pay for the car to be shipped from where I am all the way to PA its so far and too much $$$. Oh yea and I spoke to KD Rotary and they were super friendly and gave some hell of usful info about my car. I recommend as well.
