engine harnesses help please
Here's what I found when I took apart my UIM. the WG harness, and the harness right by the alternator both had a wire ripped out from the back. How can I fix this? I can't seem to pull the rubber end out of the back of the harness, any clever ways to do it?
My mechanic unwraps the harness replaces wires and connectors as needed .He wraps them back in the black plastic split hose stuff, then wraps black tape over that .He replaces connectors with GM weather pack connectors when needed .When going single or nonseq he removes the wires not used, making the harness much smaller, and easy to work with . This takes alot of time but it pays off in the end . Take the time and do it right= no problems down the road .
Call A-spec and ask them ,who will know better than them . My mechanic charges by the hour, and does not know long it will take . Can you not do it your self ? It is not rocket science but you do need to be careful .

I need to get the old piece out of the harness, and I don't know if I need a new solenoid either. I'd like to do it myself. but I'd hate to replace the harnesses, put the UIM back together, and then find out it's a solenoid that's bad.

Cut off the bad part and wire in new wires with crimp or solder on male/female connectors. If your harness is shitty and you can afford it, replace it. These cars are getting old and the harness is **** quality to begin with. Ghettoing a harness on my car may have cost me a motor.
