Emergency brake light

I've driven the car for many years without a problem but just recently the emergency brake light will come on under hard acceleration (when the brake isn't on) and will stay on until the car gets jarred a decent amount (pothole, big expansions joint, etc). Putting the emergency brake on and then off doesn't seem to turn off the light so I figure something is loose somewhere. I don't see anything wrong with the brake system (it's behaving fine and the pads are fine) so I'm not really sure what to look for. Any ideas?

If you say the brake pads are fine then definitely check your brake fluid. My brake light was coming off and on while I was driving and eventually stayed on. I thought mine was the brake fluid because it was low. I filled it up and the light for the emergency brake went away, but that wasn't my problem. My brake pads were worn down to almost nothing, so the brake fluid filled up the space in the calipers to compinsate for the worn pads. So before you fill up your brake fluid, I would double check your brake pads.

I did check both (and even had my yearly state inspection) and both the pads and the fluid level seem fine. The fluid also looks good but I may do a flush just to check

When you had that light come on before did it only happen under a hard acceleration?

No, I was not under a hard acceleration.

I had the same problem not to long ago, I checked my fluids cecks my pads, I even removed the center console to check the ebrake wire, everything was fine and anything I did didnt fix the problem, so I kinda ignored it, so the time came around to do a tune up, and after I replaced my spark plugs the light turned off so iono lol

Well I'm not really worried about it since it's obviously not engaged so I'll fiddle with it and all the stuff in the thread Mahjik posted and hopefully something will fix it. Thanks for all the suggestions

Didn't realize this was such a weird issue but glad to see it's not indicative of something bigger
