Electronics, turbo timer, boost control. blah!
Can anyone tell me what electronics are worth the money to have in a FD? Besides Autometer boost, water temp, air/fuel ratios, oil pressure gauges (how are these? vs others?) anything else I should ask santa for? =)
Please let me know why too.

What are the main purpose for the boost controller and PFC other than just bost control, and leaving the car on after you walk away? Is autometer good enought too?

The PFC is not a turbo timer, which are IMO a waste of money. Heres a little info about what the PFC is and does.

Forget the turbo timer, a/f gauge, and egt gauge. They are worthless to you at this point.
Worthwhile gauges for you if your car is close to stock would be boost, water temp, and maybe oil temp. You already have a stock oil pressure gauge that works fine, if the sender is clean and working.
Autometer gauges are ok, but their standard line is made pretty cheaply IMO. I know my Defi Link series are very expensive but they look it and function like it, too.
A boost controller is always good, IMO. If you have a few mods and want some more power, pick up an M2 or Pettit ecu for a safe power upgrade. When you are more familiar with the car and are ready to move forward with more modifications, you can sell your M2 or Pettit ecu and pick up a Power FC.

The only air fuel ratio gauge that has any real accuracy (value) is going to be a wide band style. The rest are useless due to the static (like an idiot light on the dash) output of the o2 sensor they get there reading from. A wide band is a must have in my opinion due to the fact that if you don't give the motor enough fuel it will self destruct in a heart beat. Having a wide band will tell you if a lean condition exist as you slowly upgrade your car so you know when it's time to upgrade your ECU and or fuel system. Without one you’re taking a chance using a guideline set by people with too many variables to list. Witch brings me to my next point. It will also warn you if your fuel system is not operating properly such as a weak fuel pump, injectors are partially clogged or your fuel filter needs changing even if you don't take the modified path. There are some more affordable then others. Do your homework but I recommend the Tech Edge unit from the boys down under.

No it's not Turbo'd
What I want to know is has anybody made a wideband display, that gets 5V inputs, besides the techedge, -> UGLY POS.... ones that are out there now ??
I know the Defi ones use 0-1v and so do the Autometer ones, but is it the gauge that's nonlinear, or the sensor, since if it's the sensor you'd be able to put a resitor inline to bring the voltage down to 0-1V from 0-5V.... !?
So is there are 0-5V gauge, or is it feasable to just add resistors to the lead from the O2 ??

Voltage scaling is no big deal.
