Electronic Power Steering in FD?

Anybody done this yet? I searched and came up with Citreon electric pump from the Saxo in Europe. Problem is it isn't that easy to get a hold of one here in the US. Anyone else completed the conversion with another type of pump from a US vehicle electric PS pump?

Someone was selling a pump from a recent model Civic in the classifieds a few months ago that they claimed could work - though I don't think they actually did the conversion.

MR2 pump I think it was. Why though? The pump pulls something like 70 amps and would constantly be on unless some sort of electronic trickery was used.

RX8 uses electric power steering also. I think it may be a pita to retrofit since the electric power steering pump would require an input for speed (and perhaps other stuff). You would also need to check the pressure output of the pump compared to the FD pump at different speeds since the current setup is a speed sensitive steering pump and changes pressure as speed changes.

The MR2 uses an electric pump. The RX8 uses a direct electric assist system that is built into the rack. The stock FD pump is not very heavy.

^Yeap might have to put the stock power steering back on. Going to have to dig through all the parts bins. :-( Also going to have to move some stuff around in the engine bay. I'm thinking about shortening up the power steering cooler metal line substantially, possibly removing it totally to ease reinstall. Anyone?
