Electrical Demons

I finally get to go back home in a couple weeks for spring break so hopefully I will be able to sort everything out, I am looking for some advice on what to look for...

I recently installed a completely new stereo (head unit, all speakers, 2 amps, sub, etc...) and now I have a couple electrical problems. My sunroof and interior lights do not work. I have checked and re-checked all the fuses under the hood and by the driver's side kick panel, and they all look good. I dont really know what else to look for. Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas on what might be causing it? Any help would be appreciated, and although I cant go out to work on it now, I am trying to get some idea on what I need to do when I am home....

Thanks everyone!
Bart

Something's wrong with your stereo install, plain and simple. Unplug your new stereo and see if things work. Double-check the fuses- you need to pull the fuse out and look at it, just looking at it in the fuse box won't cut it.

You either popped a fuse on the install and haven't found it, or you really boogered something up with wiring in the stereo.

Yeah, I pulled all the fuses out and checked them because I blew the Cigar and Room fuse. I also pulled the sunroof fuse and checked it but it looked fine, maybe I missed something. The stereo works great, I just dont have a sun roof and lights. I was hoping that there were fuses somewhere else that I didnt know about, guess I just have to do some more troubleshooting though.

the wiring is screwed up, just bring it in to a stereo install place or ask some one that installs stereos. It should be a easy fix. I've seen it happen a few times.

Does anyone know specifically what it could be though as far as the wires? I am only using one wire from the old wiring harness, otherwise everything else is new. I just dont see what could be causing the sunroof and lights to not work. Are there any plugs under the dash, or in the console or anything that would affect the two?

I kind of doubt this is a possiblity, but in my old car I had an amp hooked up, and it would only get power every now and then. I kept checking the fuse and it looked just fine. Finally I got tired of the problem so I said what the hey, I will just replace the fuse and see what happens. It worked just fine. After closer inspectin the fuse was barely blown on one side, making it appear to be fine and if for whatever reason power was able to get through it, it would work for a little bit. Never seen this before or after though.

Yeah thats what I am hoping the problem is... maybe I just didnt look close enough, because I really cant think of anything else that would cause the two not to work, unless something short circuite, which i doubt, but anythings possible.

I would not only look at the sunroof fuse but I also would make sure there is voltage getting to the fuse. Now its likely there is but in the case theres no voltage at the fuse you then need to back track and find out if a larger circuit has been effected.
