elec water temp gauge install??

i have an autometer electrical water temperature gauge that my friend gave me and it doesnt have any instructions and couldnt find them on autometers website. so can someone help me with the wires or post a link with a diagram, thanks

black=ground
white=12 volt switched
blue=???
red=???

how do you know white is 12v?

i have a similar gauge

your wires should be

black-ground
white-dimmer
blue-sender
red-12V

can i just slpice the blue sender wire into the stock sender wire??

what is the probe?? you mean the sender?? isnt the probe for the mechanical version?? i dont have the sender because the gauge came from a friends front clip and the sender was missing

It's not going to work without the probe. It is the most important piece of the gauge setup. Where do you think the gauge will get a signal from? It's not going to come from the stock water temp sensor.

yeah you need the probe, then the blue sender wire gets twisted to the top (i wrapped that wire around that top screw) at the top of the probe..
