I was thinkin of switchin my stock turbos to Efini Twins. If i do this what will i all need to change? I assume that i just cant swap them and call it good.

efini twins are 91-95 JDM and are exactly the same as what you already have

I am assuming he meant the 99 Spec twins. Actually I think you don't need to do anything to put them in. Running higher boost is another matter though...

I am told that the 99 spec Efini Twins are a direct bolt on. You'll also get an additional 30HP from the swap due to better engineering and design of the turbochargers. Do a search I bet you'll be lots of info for the specs.

I'm actually dropping my car off this Wednesday to have GT Garage in Portland, OR put in a brand new set of 99 spec Efini twins. If you want email or PM me and i'll post you up on the results when it's finished.

efini = JDM 91-95

I'm only emphasising this fact, so that some poor sap doesn't go ordering a set of 'efini' turbos from japan - and ends up getting exactly what he already has

96-02 FDs were not sold under the 'efini' sub-brand

[/pedant]

Also - 30hp? type I-II FD = 255hp, type III-IV (+y-pipe) = 265hp, type V-VI (+bigger exhaust, better air-flow, bigger dp, improved turbos, more boost) = 280hp.

I'd be the first to agree that the later FDs have more than 280hp - but where did you get the 30hp figure from?

I second the improved rebuild suggestion (BNR, etc)

I was reading on rx-7.com that you can buy a new set of Efini Twins for like $2900 and that will give you around 330hp. They said that the most they have seen the Twins give a car was 380hp. I dont know about that.
