ive had some problems with my fd. it was leaking water from what looked like the rear of the engine when the car had warmed up. so ive taken the inlet off, induction kit, and other bits thats are in the way to see if i can find the problem as i couldnt see it from underneath the car. and im now in the process of replacing ALL the old hoses and vacuum lines whilst i have the areas accessable.

someone suggested it could be the water pipe that goes to the turbo unit.

BUT i cannot find the water pipe that goes to the turbos anyone got any pointers? ive already treid searching the forums for any thread like this but to no avail

The turbo coolant lines are visible from the front of the car when the air pump is removed. They are 2 small 1/4" diameter lines. Both short about 4-6" in length and they kinda criss cross each other. Kinda have an L shape to them. Remove the air pump and I'm sure you'll be able to identify them.

Search for turbo coolant lines might work.

Also, there is the coolant line that goes from the back of the motor to the throttle body. Check that also.

Nice Mini. I have an '06 Cooper S.

Cheers.

If it's the back of the engine, I would look at the heater hose and the small hoses going to the throttle body. The turbo coolant lines will make the leak at the front of the engine - the rubber lines can leak, but I've yet to see a case where the metal lines failed, unless someone pulled the turbos, pulled the lines, and totally dorked up the installation of the hard lines to the turbos.

Dale:
heater hose is ok and the hose that goes to the TB is fine. is there another one? the metal water pipes that run behind the engine and round the turbos. where are they from and where do they go?
