How do you guys do it?

My FD has been sitting for 2-3 months now, and I'm ready to pull the trigger to get it fixed as financials are not a problem, but I am waiting to clear the year and pay my taxes the first of the year to see what can be done additionally when the car goes in, or if that extra money needs to be used for inventory to avoid a higher tax brackett. Basically, I don't want to fix it, and then find that I could of gone single and saved a little labor and done it all at once, or that I screwed myself by not using some of the money to dodge paying more taxes. But it will be mid janurary before I finally know what I have to spend.

This is driving me nuts, all that I can do to it is pretty much done, just a few odds and ends here and there to address.

This site only makes it worse to be honest Maybe I should go get a 360 and write it off as a business expense along with 5 or 6 games to occupy myself and keep my mind off of it.

It will be nice when Forza 2 comes out, I can wipe the blood off my hands from working on the FD, sit on the couch, pick up the controller and scroll over to "upgrade turbo"....

My FD sat in the garage from 99 to 2004 because I didn't have the money to get it running properly. I started by rebuilding the turbos in 2003, adding a downpipe, hi flow cat and racing beat exhaust. Next I tackled the rat's nest and replaced all hoses with silicone hoses. The list goes on ... new magnacor wires, new plugs, AST replacement, new water pump, new aluminum radiator, silicone upper and lower coolant hoses, new large intercooler, Greddy elbow, Supra Denso fuel pump, new fuel filter, SR tuned PFC and commander, stainless steel brake lines, cross drilled and slotted rotors, rebuilt front/ rear brakes and painted calipers red, SSR GT3 wheels (8.5" front 10" rear), Toyo Proxies, custom six speaker 550 W stereo with DVD player, custom sub with JL Audio 8W7, boost gage, Apexi boost control kit, factory strut tower brace, 99 spec rear wing, battery relocation to rear bin, Apexi intake, HKS blow off valve

The bottom line is I did all work myself by reading posts from other FD owners and if I must say so ... the car is the ****. I get thumbs up where ever I go with people taking pictures and staring at the gleaming red paint job. Get busy and with a year of work your FD can also be the ****!

Most of that stuff is done to my car. I bought my car, put a whooping 1k miles on it, and it went. We will know for sure when the motor comes out, by my mechanic thought that most likely the motor was riden hard, not abused, but just drove hard.

No biggie, I'll get a new motor soon and then I will know how every mile goes down.

Dude, I could not wait 5 years to get it running. I would of sold it before then just so I didn't have to look at it and wish it was running. It's bad enough as it is and I know I'll have it on the streets before March.

my front apex seal went out the other day (go figure) and i am taking it to my friends shop tomorrow and we are going to take apart the engine and replace the seals with some rotary aviation seals, and a brand new housing. i wouldnt be able to let my FD sit ANYWHERE and just look at it wondering when its gonna get fixed. I just go out and do it, because I love my FD.

I pretty much spend all of my spare time working on my car. My friends tell me I'm obsessed. I tell them hobbies are healthy .
