Efini Turbo "Y" Pipe
#5
just to hijack the thread for a sec. ...can anyone give me an install time estimate (sorry, I'm too lazy to search - don't answer if you don't want to, but don't waste your time telling me to hit the search button, LOL)

a couple hours at most. just dont forget to get underneath the car to get the intake pipe connected to the secondary turbo out. "do not try to take out the y-pipe from the front without taking the intake pipe out, it will not come out"

1)- Take off intake pipes/couplers connected to air box or aftermarket intake system.
2)- Take off IC to stock Cross-Over Tube Coupler.
3)- Take off Air Pump and corresponding hoses (if applicable).
4)- Take off Cross-over Tube by disconnecting stock Y-Pipe Coupler.
5)- Disconnect Vacumm line on BOV. Take off BOV w/hose
6)- Make sure the car is in gear with the parking brake engaged. Lift car and place Jack stands to secure the vehicle.
7)- From underneath, take off the two (2) 10mm nuts that hold the Secondary Turbo inlet pipe off.
8)- From above, slide/manuever the ST inlet pipe out. Make sure the gasket is not damaged. The gasket can be left resting on the flange studs.
9)- Take of all four (4) 10mm Y-Pipe flange nuts off. Two per flange. Make sure the flange gaskets are not damaged. The gasket can be left resting on the Turbo flange studs.
10)- Disconnect both vacumm hoses (2) that are attached to the back side of the stock Y-Pipe.
11)- Slide the Y-Pipe up and clear of the studs. Make sure the flange gaskets are not damaged. The gaskets can be left resting on the Turbo studs.
12) Slide the front half of the stock Y-Pipe out.
13)- Take the O-Ring off the stock Y-Pipe and reinstall in the new Efini unit. (only if O-Ring is undamaged)
Except for the Y-Pipe to Cross-Over Tube Coupler install, reverse the process for installation of the Efini Y-Pipe.

Rx7 store no longer sells polished Efini Y-pipes. They can send it out for polishing , but you may as well do that yourself. $ 235 + tax ...I bought mine from Jason too ...good luck .

If you have a Mazda Motorsports membership (must compete in 2 events per year) you can buy it for $208 (this is a not for resale price and for use only on your competition/registered car). See http://www.mazdamotorsports.com for details.

cheers, I'm was after a time estimate only, as I'm thinking about labor costs. (a) it would be too cost-prohibitive to let me near the car with tools and (b) I have no tools here in japan anyway
I'm actually considering a custom y-pipe from mochi racing, but I'll price match it to the stock item first.
