Efini steering wheel install...

Please save the SEARCH...looked all over this forum for wire to wire details if the install and like most threads, have little if any closure at all.

I have a 93 and have removed the stock steering wheel...the Efini steering wheel has one wire that is white and a white clip with several ports but only one wire. I assume this is the horn.

I have to dremel out the plastic hub on the efini steering wheel to allow the air bag plug to fit through. I also rotated the clock spring arrow so that it is pointing downwards so the hub of the wires can fit through the steering wheel hub dremel hole on the top.

What do I do with the single wire on the wheel? The clip on the end of this wire does not match the cruise control clip. Does it matter that I have rotated the clock spring 180 deg instead of matching the arrow on the top of the clock spring?

Also, sincevI have removed the air bag the light will come on...will it suffice to simply remove the bulb? Hopefully I do not have to use any resistors.

Thanks.

When i switched i took the clock spring out. it would not fit up properly to the Efini wheel so I left it. Now i have no horn, but oh well. If you dont spool the clock spring up properly the steering wheel will not turn all the way around and jam. Another reason i left it out.

If you take the bulb out of the gauge for the air bag light you willl now get a warning "BEEP" all the time. To stop that you have to disconnect the airbags comp. Its on the right side of the drivers footwell. Just get down there and look up a bit to the right and unplug the yellow (i believe) box.

Thanks for your help....can see why few folks put this wheel on their cars...I dremelled out the efini wheel hole wider to fit the airbag plug in case I want to go back to stock...but to do this the clock spring arrow is now pointing to the 6:00 position instead of the 12:00. Half turn off...hopefully this will not affect anything....how do you know if the clock spring is set properly? It says to wind til it clicks then back off 2.75 turns...I back off 2.5 turns to match the connector to the wheel.

What do I do with the wire that came with the efini steering wheel. Is this a power wire or a ground wire?

what does the clock spring do?

I don't know how to word it exaclty, but what it does is: It allows a electrical circuit to exist without wires binding up since the steering wheel rotates so many degrees either way. The clock spring is just a device that prevents wires from being in the way or wrapped up.

Going to connect the steering wheel wire to the orange wire coonector...the one that is next to the blue airbag wire. I wonder if there is a resistor you can place in the blue connector to dupe the air bag alarm?

You could have just searched for hub or hub adaptor and run across this thread: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ight=miata+hub

no dremeling or other half assed measures required and you can reinstall the stock wheel and airbag fully functional at any time.

So this hub adapter has a plug that fits the orange and blue connectors and cruise...Not sure why I would need a hub since the efini steering wheel fits perfectly other than the stock hole is located at the 12:00 while the attachement for the airbaag/horn/cruise is on the 6:00.

The dremel enlargened an already existing hole in the efini steering wheel....cant see it looks very clean (I build large r/c models). It would seen that I would need a coonector like the airbag but without the airbag and not some "hub".

thanks so much everybody for the feedback.

What if you like dremeling and half-assed measures and have no intention of ever reinstalling the stock steering wheel or SRS system?
