ECU upgrade, turbo upgrade help

I'm having a reman engine put in my 94 RX-7 and I'm putting a downpipe and midpipe section in without cats. I think from what I've read I need to do something to the ECU. Should I replace this unit? if so, with what?
My turbos are also shot, so I thought about putting a little bit bigger ones on there. Nothing too expensive, just want it a little more peppy. Let me know what you guys think. I don't know of any tuners in my area, so the ECM needs to just plug in and work!
How much of a HP increase will it be to have a DP, MP, and a catback?

Thanks and let me know!

alittle bigger turbo will run you at least 3k if not up to 5k for all the work and parts.

there is no sense in getting a new engine if your turbos do not work. if your tight on cash, put the cat back in and get some used turbos or see if you can rebuild yours. if you do go single, you will need a new ECU as well as new fuel parts and intercooler piping.

I guess I'll probably find some good stock twins.
But I will still need to upgrade my ECM with just a DP, MP, and catback right?

Which one works best?

Where are you located in MO?

You "should" upgrade you ECU when using a midpipe, but there are people who have run them on stock ECU's. The problem is when the boost begins to rise past stock boost levels; the stock ECU isn't really programmed to deal with anything other than stock performance. So, as a general rule of thumb; when you want to increase boost, you should upgrade the ECU.

If you can keep stock boost levels with an open exhaust, you should be fine. However, controlling boost with an open exhaust can be tricky which is why it's just safer to upgrade the ECU.

As far as which ECU, that depends on the goals for your car.

Well- I just want stock twins, and a DP, MP, and catback. Nothign special, just a little more HP than stock. I want to keep the stock twins for now. So I don't need an ECU that's too extreme.

Which one you think is best?
By the way- I'm from Southeast MO. I'm mainly a Corvette guy, but I can't get these cars out of my blood!
