weird noise and boost problems

I just finished replacing my LIM gasket and all of the vacuum hoses. Before I did all of this work I had a bad leak on the LIM but no boost problems at all. Now my LIM leak is fixed but I am getting very little boost. In addition when I accelerate hard a loud sound comes from the turbo area that sounds like a screeching. I do not smell any exhaust around the turbo.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to figure out where a leak might be? Does any know what the screeching noise might be?

Thanks for your help.

Check to see that all 5 of the UIM nuts/bolt are tightened down. If it is loose the gasket can act as a "reed" when air is blown by it, hench the screetching.

If that fails, you will probably have have a vacuum leak in a hose or coupler track down.

If the metal gasket behind the air control valve slipped while you put it back on it can cause a loud screeching/siren noise.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem. I bought my FD about three weeks ago. I have been chasing many small issues since then. The best thing I have done is install an Autometer Procomp boost gage. I'm not where I want to put it permanently, so I just had my girlfriend hold it for me when we went for a drive. I was getting some boost at full throttle, but not 10 PSI. Anyway, I went through all my vacuum lines and intake connections. I found a small leak at the throttle body. Once I tightened that up, the car boosted to 10 PSI. I haven't had any problems since.

Good luck.
