ECU Advice

Guys, I'm lokin for advice on an ECU upgrade.
I have a 93 R1(jdm) with street port , stock injectors, stock twins.
Want to achieve 350RWHP reliably.
Considering either Petit ECU or Greddy Emanage( din see any threads for this in the Engine Management setion)
Last Resort will be the PFC due to its higher price.
ANY SUGGESTIONS/ COMMENTS?

go with a PFC, it is worth the extra money over those other two you mentioned. It will allow you to tune it better to release more power from your engine mods.

the PFC is only as good as its tune! you will need to spend some extra money on the dyno. don't try to take an easy way out with these cars you will pay for it later. save up the money and do it right the first time.

My thinking is that the PFC would be a bit of overkill for my limited mods. I'm not looking for a daily driver, however I want it to be reliable but street smart/quick at the same time.
Got a quote from SR motorsports regarding one of their pretuned PFC's and its about twice the cost of the alternatives i mentioned.
The plan is to stay twinturbo untill these babies fail, then go with an Aspec set up at that time. Just figured i could get above average performance without oing all the way one time!

Hit up Ebay - brand new PowerFC's are available for $680 with commander from Japan all day long. I and many others have bought them through the guy with great luck.

The PFC is probably the best mod you will do to the car. Even with your mods, the car will run better, drive better, and make better power, just with plugging the PFC in. No 3000 RPM hesitation, either. And, you have the full deal to do whatever you want with the car in the future.

The E-manage flat out DOES NOT work on the FD. Trust me, if I could figure out a way to make it work, I would - I wrote the E-manage FAQ, admin the mailling list, etc.

Personally, I always look at Re Amemiya. Re Amemiya work with Greddy/Trust parts and even sell some Trust parts under their own name.. Yet Re Amemiya uses the PFC on most of its cars except its track cars where it uses its own ECU called Redom.

So PFC must not be that bad. Also with E-Manage you have to buy alot of surrounding accessories and have a laptop.

PFC all the way and as Dale said I have heard great responses from people who use both Rhdjapan.com and jappartsspecialist.com. Both sell the PFC for 680$ but RHD is cheaper on shipping.

Good luck,

Alex

We'll.....

Air Intakes
SMIC
Alum. Rad
Samco Hoses all around
Downpipe
Midpipe
Catback
Fuel Pump, Walbro (special on it right now @ 89.99$) or NippoDenso aka Supra pump
Apexi PFC w/ commander and a tune however, in Trinidad that might be hard. Probably Acosta Racing is gonna be the closest thing to you.

I think that is pretty much it.

PFC is the way to go. I wouldn't expect the Petit to work at that level.

Guys, I did a bit of research and have only been able to locate the very detailed set up information for a single turbo and PFC done by "WARGASM" on this forum.
Can anyone point me in the right direction regarding its setup using the stock twins?
...I want to be knowedgable enuff to ensure the Tuner is giving be safe limits yet max tuning for my MODS. AS i first said .the PFC seems a bit overkill especially for the technologically challenged like myself. Is the PFC tuning for DUMMIES!

I use the PFC and Love it. I got it from SR generic pretuned for my 'mods" against almost every thread in here and have had no problems. Never dyno'd car but runs well on street, autox, time trials and trackdays, and all out 119 mile roadrace all in 100+ deg heat; I figure I am a little rich based on my WB readings, but oh well. I have looked at my full maps, compared them to others on this forum that were tuned; faired a few cells and watch my WB once in a while.

Main mods: DP, catback, fuelpump, large rad, greddy SMIC, '96 Y-pipe

I have come out of the closet: I did not dyno tune my PFC.
