Question Im trying to replace THE DUMB STOCK PLASTIC GAS PEDAL

Does anybody know of a company or someone who makes a metal replacement gas pedal for the fd. Ive seen some but dont know where to find them here is an example that is the best one I've seen. i found it through a google image search on http://www.hondaclub-si.com/forum/vi...4485b8b47a21d4

None of it is in english though so I was just wondering is anybody had seen this pedal or anything like it available anywhere.

That looks like the pedal (cover) Pettit Racing used to sell. If it is, their supplier quit manufacturing them about 4 years ago.

They sell 3/4pc pedal sets though. I dont know if they wil sell the gas pedal separate.

I emailed them asking if they would sell me the dead pedal separate, lets see what they say.

The plastic assembly does seem a little cheap, but after pulling it I see it is light and well made for plastic. I covered my gas pedal with a sparco cover. Bought a sparco set for about $50 ? and just used the acceleartor pedal. I forget which model, cast alum. with ridges and holes with raised edges ... matchs stock. I carefully adjusted cuvature (by bending in vise) of the piece to best fit shape of OEM pedal, drilled two holes through OEM part and mounted. When you drill hole, first make a very small pilot hole so you can adjust to miss ribbing behind (allow room for nut). I positioned for closer pedal to brake spacing ..

I got a set off eBay 3+ years ago.

As you can see they also offered a matching cast aluminun dead pedal cover.

No help in finding one, but I thought I would add to your quest to include the dead pedal

that Pettit Racing one was nice. You don't really want a grippy surface on the gas pedal though. You really want for the pedal to be smooth or have vertical lines. The pedal actually slips a little on the bottom of your shoes and a grippy surface would make it harder to make sudden changes th throttle position (as in full to off and back to full on a track) or even subtle changes.

The GB was for the AutoVation pedals (linked up above). I'm thinking about trying them out.

Did you use the dead pedal on that site?

If so, did it fit?

As an aside, it is hilarious to see other FD guys drive my car and have trouble with the widefoot pedal. They go from 'This FD is just like mine, how comfy' to '****, why do the revs keep jumping up when I touch the brakes'

That sounds pretty funny, but if you heel toe on a regular basis, then you will really appreciate how close the brake and gas pedal are.

Yeah so, I decided that finding that pedal is prolly like finding a T-rex bone in your back yard. Donovan also brings up a good point, that pedal is quite grippy. I think I'm just going to design and create my own. I'll base it around the stock look with lines instead of circles but metal and a bit closer to the brake at the bottom. I'll post pics when I'm done. Once again thanks for all the info and input guys.
