eccentric shaft moves

my eccentric shaft moves when the clutch is pressed. I can start the engine fine, but I'll hear a screaching sound for a second or so. now when the engine is started, I can't put her into to gear. everytime i step on the clutch, it screeches and e.s. moves in and out. what could be the problem here? i thought it was the clutch or tranny, but changed both and still same problem. End Plates maybe? help......

Possibly a throw out bearing they make a horrible noise when they are going out. Did you replace this?

if your eccentric shaft has excessive in/out play then the thrust bearings are damaged. How much would you guess that it's moving?

this
stop using the engine immediately
,, the crank and bearings will be toast from the bits from the obviously dead torrington bearing setup that holds the end-float

+2 for toasted thrust bearings, do you have a pulley kit installed?

This is a fairly easy to test. Have a friend step on the clutch while you watch the main pulley, if there is noticeable movement then the endplay is out of spec for one reason or another. You could also just grab the main pulley and see if you can slide the e-shaft back and forth.

History on the engine? Reman? Original? Rebuild?

or simply drain the engine oil and run a magnet through it, easiest way to see the extent of any damage if the torrington bearing fell out or ate itself up.
