I received the Ebay UIM and LIM gasket's today via USPS. First impression was they looked hella cheap.. lol go figure. But after opening the package and feeling the texture of them they do "seem" like they would seal very well. They are very durable as far as texture goes and they dont feel cheap at all. Ill do a more detailed writeup on them once i get it installed (maybe this weekend).
So far they feel durable, strong and definetly look like they would seal better then the paper/metal gasket. BUT that has yet to be determind. I'll get back to you guys on that.

what kind of material are they? they look sort of plastic or ceramic... I would be concerned that a cheap gasket would warp from the excessive heat of a rotory. why did you decied to stray from the oem gaskets?

I spotted these a while back while preparing to remove my UIM for a sensor replacement. I decided against them, but I'll be watching this thread. Hopefully they'll work out, but if they don't, you'll probably save someone else some $$ and alot of headache.
Oh, and I gotta ask RXWishing, who IS that in your avatar and did it do much damage when you ran 'it' over? Looks like a morgue shot from work.

I don't know how you can say that something would seal better than the OEM (metal) gasket. As much as people bitch about engine replacements not a lot of FDs should have the original paper gasket.
I've never seen or heard of anyone complaining about the stock metal gasket leaking.

I just blew my stock cardboard LIM gasket. The engine was last rebuilt in 96-97, just before Mazda went to the silicone/metal ones. D'oh!
The cost for a new LIM gasket was about $20. That's cheap.

Looks like an expanded teflon type sheet gasket. Does it float?
Thinner than the true 1/2 to 3/8 inch phenolic spacers used to keep the intake manifold cooler. But should help a bit. Use an indoor/outdoor temp sensor to get some bef/aft numbers. Would also help to bypass TB heater.

I don't know if it's a problem or not but with those thicker gaskets the LIM is going to move away from the block and the UIM will be higher. The UIM probably will no longer match up to it's bracket just in front of the throttle body. The pressure tank mounting holes may not align either.
