EBAY Scam???

This auction finished a couple of days ago but hopefully this link will still work.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....486666038&rd=1

Anyway if it doesn't it is for a 1995 R2 few mods for only $AUD8000!!!
This is really cheap for an FD here especially since it is likely that the cheapest for a '92 series 6 is around $25000. Anyway I emailed the person and this is their reply:

Hello,

The car is still available for sale and ready to be shipped..

Shipping will be done via Lufthansa Air Cargo from Paris,France and it will take no more then 4 days.I am working for my country Military and Lufthansa will manage me a low price for shipping and I assumed that it is from me to pay for shipping it if you will pay for the money transfer taxes. When I will shipp it,I will arrange for all the dutyes that you will not pay any customs when you will receive it and for this it will be delivered directly to your address.

Also, you have nothing to worry about this deal because will be done it in a secure way.The most important thing in all my activities is that I am affiliated at eBay Square Trade and I have a purchase protection account for USD $20,000 and I assume you know what this means. How you are protected by Square Trade,in case we have a deal:

1) If you will not receive the car as i described to you, although this is not the case,Square Trade will refund you with 100% from the whole amount which you paid me.Even in case that you will not receive the car, they will refund you the money back.

2) You can send the money to my name and address but you will not give me the details from the payment. You will give the details to Square Trade. They will verify the payment and if is ok,and the money are availble under my name they will notify me to procede with the shipping. After you receive and see that the car is the one you want, you just notify Square Trade to forward me the payment details in order for me to pick up my money.

Let me know if this is ok with you,so that we can go forward with this deal!About the payment Square Trade will manage in my place the financial details.
Regards!

p.s. I need your full name and shipping address in order to contact Square Trade to start the deal.

I'm obviously not going to do any of this since it's nearly impossible to get an import registered here anyway. So what do you guys think... is it a scam?

Wow, this has more international "flavor" than a shopping mall food court. A Japanese built car, currently in France, being shipped to Australia, by a German Airline to be sold by a member of the military of an as yet, undetermined country. Whew. Smells like the food court too.
Tell him you have someone in Paris that wants to come by and see the car and see what he says.

I would send him and email, tell him your friend in Paris wants to see the car.

It is a shame you don't know someone who lives in Paris, who is of specific temper to kneecap this scamming scumbag.

Yeah, looked at the same thing only for a 996 Ducati. I bet its a scam, but it has been going on for a long time. You'd think ebay would put a stop to it if it was. But I still don't have the ***** to try it.

LOL if you look at the seller's feedback, the first three items are 2 books on expecting a baby and a tube top.

Yeah, this is BS, there is a good post about it on the Supra forums, bc evidently, someone fell for it. Great price on the car, only thing is its in Europe. Someone sent the money, and recieved a kiss my a$$ letter in the mail.

Its about the 5th post. Mods, think maybe we could get something along the lines of a Scam thread going? I hate to steal someones idea, but I am sure they don't mind if we protect each other from getting ripped. Just a thought.

I have come accross the same scamster several times with several cars. Thankfully, his unblievably low prices are only outdone by his offer to fly the car from Europe free of charge. Absurd. When you get his email that espouses to be from Fair Trade, read it carefully; you will find more typos than in this message! Its not from FairTrade, he has simply entered the name on the email to FairTrade-it's from his own email account. You will also notice that ebay gets wind of his add and removes them after a few hours.

Right now he has an add for a 500HP FD that is still in the auction obviously being sold legitamately by someone else! Forget ever using Western Union. Be sure to use a reputable escrow service and never buy the BS for why they prefer not to.

He tries a series of obvious tricks that are becoming less and less succesful. This scheme is reminiscent of the Nigerian scams where they reel you in with the promise of millions of dollars if you can only send a 10-100,000 so that they can expatriate the money. Joke. They get them with the classic escalation of comitment and bleed the people dry. "Jut send another 10k and millions will be yours."

Anyway, this guy is obvious, but be wary of the more clever ones. There are many out there.
