eBay diffuser install?

Has anyone ever installed the eBay Rame rear 3 piece diffuser on their FD? I bought one and I can't figure out how the two 90° pieces are supposed to attach the outside edges of it to the car. I can't get photobucket to work right now, so I don't have a pic, but this is the one I bought: https://www.ebay.com/itm/291803261985.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys.

I've never seen mounting brackets like those. Usually they are curved. Looks like some very cheap chinese stuff.

Moral of the story: You get what you pay for with cheap-o ebay purchases?

If you look closely at the main picture in your ebay link of the diffuser actually mounted, you'll see that it has different mounting brackets than the ones supplied with the kit.

The brackets of the installed bracket are curved, like those of the RE A diffuser they stole the design from.

"Product Notes :

Hardware not included, you will still need "L" brackets and other generic hardware to install this properly."

I was aware that it said no hardware was included. I also noticed that other diffusers use the "S" shaped outer brackets. I was hoping that once I got the diffuser, those "L" shaped pieces would make more sense. They don't.

If all else fails, I'll sell this one and buy the Spec RE diffuser from Shine.

should have bought the shine one for $100 more..better quality and proper hardware and you are supporting a vendor that gives back to the rx7 community

"Fiberglass parts always require prep work before they can be primed and painted. This product is made with fiberglass material, therefore it will exhibit chips, breaks, cracks, waves, scratches and holes which require modification. It is necessary to dry fit and drill mounting holes and preform body work before paint. Cutting and adding of fiberglass may be required for proper fitment."

Man...THIS would have sent me running away from the site, for sure!

Could you return the product for a refund? You'd probably have to eat the return shipping cost, but it's better than having COMPLETELY wasted your $300 on a piece that is completely inferior and will cost more to mount (properly) than what you spent originally...

Their ad says no returns. I'm emailing them to see if I can just pay return shipping and get refunded.

This thread could be stickied as a warning/reason for what to avoid as warning signs, and why NOT to cheap out on parts..

Open a dispute in paypal. Wait for the alotted time to pass (3 weeks, i think). Change it to a claim. Paypal will make the seller refund you the money and you will need to send back the item. If they say "no refunds" then tell paypal that the picture at the top of the listing does not match the item that was received (curved mounting points in one of the pictures compared to straight ones). That's all you need.

Paypal is 99.99999% buyer focused. You can actually make up all kinds of wild or fake stories why your item is "not as described" and then send back an empty box. Paypal takes the money out of the seller's account the second that you start a dispute and you get the refund when you submit a legit tracking number (aka empty box). I sold on ebay for years and was scammed this way many times.

Edit: I looked at the pictures again. The first two show round mounting brackets but also a black inside of the diffuser. The other pictures show a white inside. You can also use the differentiation in colours to get your money back in an "item not as described" claim.
