BTW, ACC is the company that makes the carpet in this GB:

https://www.rx7club.com/group-buy-center-69/fall-winter-2008-rx-7-molded-carpet-kit-gb-special-ends-dec-1st-2008-a-795041/

I know because I bought it and all the parts have ACC stickers on them.

You can find that cut pile version a few other places on the internet for just over $100. If you search there is a review with install pictures of the cut-pile carpet somewhere on this forum; it looked decent IMO. TFEnt's GB is a material closer to the factory carpet style and you have the option to buy floor mats and the rear cargo mat, but it does cost quite a bit more.

You could also go to ACC's website directly and order different styles for a decent price (cheaper than the GB price last I checked, but it has been a while).

*edit* ACC has the main carpet in 601 black with mass backing for $282.07 before shipping. It doesn't include the rear mat though.

Thanks! The ACC carpet seems like a good bet.

FYI

ACC is not authorized to use TF Enterprises rubber backing and adhesive.

So for 214 bucks you are getting the lower quality carpet, no rubber backing, no floor mats and no trunk mat.
For 321 bucks you can get a higher quality carpet, no rubber backing, no floor mats, no trunk mat.

Or buy it through TF Enterprises and get it with rubber backing (which will fit better since the mold acc has is supposed to be for the TFE rubber backed carpet)

You will have fitment, longevity, and matching issues. To me, getting the whole package with the high quality rubber backing (which I am staring at and feeling right now) is worth the slight price difference. (+ floormats & trunk mat)

Just giving everyone a heads up.

Interesting.

I doubt the carpet material is any different from ACC vs. Tom. The 601 nylon I have from Tom is probably the same as the 601 nylon from ACC.

The backing might be different though... my box from Tom (it's an ACC box w/ ACC labels) says "Nylon Mass 601 Black Custom Item". Maybe the "custom item" signifies that Tom's carpet has a thicker backing? I'm not sure because I haven't felt the standard mass backing from ACC.

BTW, I have no complaints about TFEnt's carpet set, just stating my observations.

I believe this to be correct. However, for just the passenger section and no trunk mat, no floor mats and no rubber backing. I'll pass and buy the set from Tom.

And Tom has exclusive contractual rights to his backing. If acc has copied it or started to sell it out from under him, they are going to be in some deep... stuff.

And unless the carpet is backed properly, you will have longevity issues. Give Tom a call and ask him his credentials in the carpet world. He didn't start out here on RX7's. This is most definitely not his first rodeo.
