Exclamation Earth/power poor running

Ive recently discovered that my poor idling flooding out problem has something to do with either power or earth. A quick insight into my cars running--- Car idles but has slight misfire and every now and again the front rotor completly floods out . so that i have to remove the plugs and dry them out, before the engine will restart.
now ive noticed that if i start to turn on the cars electrics like ( heated rear screen. headlights. and air conditioning) the misfire completly stops.
what the hell does this mean,,,,, is it a poor earth or poor battery or what?

search for "engine ground" and read up. lack of good solid engine grounding has been the cause of a lot of odd problems.

tiger18,

A friend of mine (he goes by "ebb" here on the forum) just had a problem similar to yours. His problem turned out to be a problem with is ignition harness. This caused his car to flood when it was turned off and also run rough.

Damaged wire. Found the problem by using my harness to troubleshoot. When that fixed the problem, then he examined his ignition harness. A little solder and he was set.

im not sure how similar mine and your firends problem is mahjik.. did your friends car misfire like mine unitl you switched on electrics inside the car.. if it was a broken wire, why would switching the heated rear screen make the car run better.. i know about electronics but that doesnt make much sense to me,,,, could it be a faulty battery (posssibly a problem with the earth on the battery)

The issue with the electrics in the car is odd. Check for voltage between the block and the chassis to make sure they're at the same potential. You may want to just try shorting the block to the chassis with a big jumper cable wire and see if that affects running.

I agree with mahjik that checking the ignition harness is a good idea. There is a very small ground wire on the coil pack; I can see this breaking easily. There's not much to the ignition harness; take off the UIM and take a look.

I have no idea if electronics made a difference on how his car ran. However, I do know that his car idled better the higher the idle rpm, so enabling more electronics while the car is running probably would have smoothed it out even more (read below).

If the car is flooding after each time you unflood it and start it up; then you have a leaking injector, or their is a problem with the injector/ignition wiring causing the injector to not close.

The FD will increase idle when there is more electrical load.
