During unflooding...

During unflooding...found pressure when unscrewed radiator cap. It's not what I think it is?

Can you describe it? Was it bubbling, gas pressure? Our was it like when you open it when its hot?

I run Evans coolant with zero pressure, yet when I swapped out my throttle body and didn't remove all the air even when the engine was cold it still pushed coolant out the filler neck. It contiuned to do this till all the air made it's way to the AST. Don't know if you've done any work on your cooling system but trapped air can cause this.

Exactly, it had pressure like when you run your engine for a while and open the cap.

I run Evans too, but with 7lbs of pressure. I did just replaced the upper and lower radiator hoses, thought I burped all the air out. I didn't hear the gurgling you would get after shutting car off, when you have trapped air. I could be wrong, it's probably just trapped air bubbles. Thanks for all your replies.

On a different note, can the engine turn over with just the trailing coils firing? I accidently left Map sensor off, turned the engine over...it ran really rough for 20 sec. then it died. Now I'm trying to unflood engine, but can't tell if I'm getting spark from all coils. I'm doing this solo, so I can't crank and ground plugs at the same time. Before it was flooded, it did run for a while, so something was sparking.

Could just be a trapped air bubble that hasn't cleared the system yet. It doesn't take much air to displace the coolant and it's next to impossible to get it all out without one of those burping funnels. How old are your plugs ?? (running without the map sensor hooked up sends it into a really rich condition and usually does just what you said (flood/stalls the engine) should be fine once you clear out the fuel (may need to use some MMO or ATF to reseal the apex seals if the fuel was that bad) Good luck, Jack
Ps is your 7psi cap the little one (factory style) or the larger one with pressure release lever) I too wanted just a bit of pressure.

Yeah, finally got it unflooded! Yah...now before I celebrate, gotta figure out why it's smoking around my turbo area. It could just be a zip tie or old insulation from wiring harness. I did a complete hose job and was snipping zip tie ends and rewrapping harness. I blew everything out with air, but maybe something is still sitting on something hot. You think I should just let it burn out on it's own? Probably not. By the way...whom ever said that plugs can't be defouled is full of it! I read that on this forum too.

My 7lb. pressure cap is only on my AST tank (not the small size, the one you can get at most auto supply), your main one is just the factory 0 pressure cap.
