drove the car 1600 miles now it wont start

I drove home from Ft. Hood in Texas to Virginia afew weeks ago i drove 1800 miles 500 the first day and 1300 the next. my 93 RX7 didnot give me any problems whatsoever on the way. I drove in 5th gear almost the entire way around 3 or 3.5k RPM. I get home and park the car for a couple days, i come out and start it to warm it up for a minute. I turn it off and proceed to leave it parked for 3 or 4 more days, come out and try to start it, it will turn over and oil pressure will rise but it wont start. i thought it may be a weak battery so i went and bought a new battery but it still wont start, it will turn over but it wont start at all. Anybody have any idea of where i should begin to look, im thinking fuel pump has crapped out on me.

i think you flooded it when you warmed it up. you cant always just start up and turn off a rx7. Turn over the engine for a few seconds then remove one of the lower plugs and see if its wet. If it is then search for flooded or unflood. But thats just my guess.

Nope, the gas has nowhere to go.

Stop by the local advance auto and get a fresh set of plugs, and then do the unflood procedure:

Before you do that, hold the gas pedal to the floor and crank it. When the pedal is floored, the computer shuts off the fuel injectors so you should be able to unflood it. If that doens't work, then change the plugs and do the unflooding procedure.

pushstarting it might work if you get real close doing the gas pedal trick and it doesn't start.

Dude, where are you in Fairfax VA? I'll come over and get it started for ya in no-time PM me your address...

PS: I highly suggesst you read the FAQ's at the top of this section and get to know the car a LOT better. Knowing how it floods is basics. If you don't get up to speed w/ the car REAL quick, it'll cost you a LOT of $$. Promise. Just some friendly advice.

that's exactly what happened to me when my fuel pump went out. you might want to check plugs and relays too. don't forget the fuses too.

If the fuel pump went out, you wouldn't hear it come on when you turn the key to on/acc/ign (whatever it is) position. It makes a noise (you gotta know what to look/hear for).

My offer still stands man. I bet she's flooded, and I can get her started in under 5 min flat

If it is flooded, more than likely it has lost the thin layer of oil that lubes the housings and apex seals.
