Dropping Subframe - Resealing Oil Pan Question

Saw quite a few threads on this subject, but I couldn't find the answer I was looking for.
It regards removing the lower a-arms out/away from the pockets on the subframe.

I have the two (2) rear bolts and four (4) front nuts removed. Unhooked the steering rack, unbolted the motor mounts, have the trans/engine jacked up as high as possible and supported with a jack stand under the trans and also supported from above the engine.

Everything is free and I can move the subframe down a couple of inches, but I want to completely remove it to clean and install a stud kit.

What I am stuck on is getting the a-arms out of the pockets on the subframe.
I can get between the frame and a-arms with a bar and move the arms "out" towards the wheel as far as possible, but they have a ways to go to completely clear the subframe.
It seems like the Tein Flex coilovers are hitting the inside of the upper control arms.

Any ideas/tips? Am I not doing something correctly?
Do I need to remove the tire, shock, and a-arm to let the subframe drop?

Thanks, Josh

Last time I did this I removed the wheels and it made everything much easier to get to and tug on....Needed an alignment afterwards though.

Thanks. I will try and see if removing the wheels helps free up some weight or room to get the lower control arms to swing out of the subframe.
