driver side window slow going up

I know this is a boring topic. I did some searching and found quite a few instances of window motor failure.

I'm trying to determine if my motor is failing, or if the glass is getting pinched and it's just making it difficult for the motor. My car has no damage so I doubt the glass is getting squeezed but it was a thought I had.

The window goes down fine, and goes up fine for the first 1/3 or 1/2, then it really struggles.

Do the motors slowly die, or just stop working completely. I bet the motors are pricey.

Anybody had a similar experience?

Try powering the windows with a direct positive and ground, that should help you decide if its the motor or if the window is pinching. You can tap into positive in the fuse box by the gas pedal and just ground a good wire than run the wires to the switch. One polarity makes the window up, reverse the wires and thus reverse the polarity will make the window go down. I am not sure if this makes sense? If not I can probably snag a picture for you tomorrow.

Increasing the voltage to compensate for the thin wires is probably the easiest solution.

However I did purchase a new regulator/motor just in case.

The motors "do" wear out and display slooow action when they are at their end. Usually some are available on Ebay, not a hard install. I did mine and it's been fine ever since.

I have the same problem with my fd, sometimes its not so slow, but other times I have to pull the window up with my fingers to get it move almost at all. Seems as if its getting worse... It seems as if its just wear from age

Well I have the door panel off to fill the gap between the outer skin and the crash bar so I can lose the "tinny" hollow sound, looks like a new motor would be a good idea. Thanks.

I have the same issues, except with my passenger side window. When I try to put both windows up at the same time, the passenger window lags way behind. But when I drive it all by itself, it does OK.

Wondering if I should pick up a spare motor just in-case.

I like to believe that the windows are slow because the car is fast. Yin and Yang, balance.

Look carefully at the track rubber. Mine had become deformed somehow and would bind/twist as the glass attempted to slide through it.

Had the same problem recently...With the glass down, I sprayed some silicone lubricant down into the rubber tracks. That solved the problem.

That sounds like a real good idea.

Ray Crowe says I can buy just the motor for a 94/95 and swap the gears with my old motor. Quick way to save $200 over a full 93 assembly.
