Hi everyone , well awhile ago I snapped the U joint on my drive shaft. I bought a new one of the forums here and made sure the seller sold me a 5spd drive shaft hence my FD is a 5 spd well when I pulled out the old one today and attempted to install the new one the back plate to the diff didn't match up to the bolt holes

The First pic is my old drive shaft the second pic is my old drive shaft compared to the new one. Is it possible the new drive shaft is a 5spd one and my FD was converted to manual before i bought it and is still using a auto driveshaft ?

 

A pic of your diff flange would be helpful.

Manual flange has a cast iron weight attached, probably ~20mm thick with cut-outs for the fasteners. Auto flange is larger diameter, different bolt pattern, no weight. Process often used here is re-drill the flange for the manual tailshaft when a conversion has been done, if there's no evidence of that and it is an auto diff, the shaft may have been made to suit instead.
