If you run a downpipe, midpipe and cat back sure you need to upgrade your ECU or you will blow your engine soon.

If you are going to boost over stock levels (10-8-10), which a midpipe will help you accomplish, then yes you should get an upgraded ECU.

If you keep the boost to stock levels, then no.

You need a boost controller at the minimum. ECU wouldn't hurt.

Not to mention boost spikes at transition & boost creep with stock spec wastegate.

If some chance you manage to keep your boost levels at stock 10-8-10 you will be ok....BUT....very slim chance you can accomplish that. If not.......KABOOOOM......time for rebuild. Look around...there are always upgraded ECU's for sale from $400-$600 used.

I got a similar question:

I got Downpipe and Catback
w/ Greddy Intercooler and
Intake...

Still got stock ecu with same boost levels.
10-8-10. Since i am not increasing boost.
and with stock cat, Do i have to worry about
boost creep and spike that can blow the engine??

Thanks

If your boost is really only 10-8-10, you will be fine. I can tell you that unless you are controlling the boost somehow, there is something wrong with your car. You should easily be pulling 12-13 psi with those mods.
