Question Downpipe Questions

I just installed my downpipe and let the car idle for a good 15 minutes before taking it for a drive. After driving it for awhile, i smelled gas, not just alittle smell that was there for a sec and gone, but a strong smell that was there the whole time. Anyone have any idea on what might be causing that?

I also left the ABS heat shielding off. Is it safe to do that, or should I put it back on?

Thanks

list your mods. do u have a midpipe too?

where did you smell the gas? under hood or while driving? if under driving, when? on boost? off boost? etc.

you can also search for "fuel smell" and learn everything you ever wanted to know about fuel problems with these cars.

put the ABS heat shielding back on.

My mods consist of:
DP
CB
Intake
Grounding system

I smelled the gas while driving. I wasn't under boost because i am unable to floor it right now because my clutch is slipping.

WTF you bumped a thread after an hour of your last post? Anyway, if you are getting a strong fuel smell do not drive the car until you find out what it is. Is the smell stronger on the passenger or the driver side? Do you have an aftermarket ECU with those mods?

Is it hard to start the car? Does idle lope? Excessive fuel consumption?

The DP has nothing to do with your fuel system. Sounds like you messed up something else during the installation.

Why don't you look under the hood, and try to find the problem

WARNING!!!

if you are smelling gas .. not oil .. but gas under your hood .. that is a very very bad sign .. whatever you do DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR .. until you have it check .. possible that your fuel like is cracking .. because these cars run so hot under the hood .. and the material the fuel lines are made of and the age of the car .. the lines are known to wear down .. SERIOUSLY GET YOUR FUEL LINE checked out .. if it is leaking it can dump onto the parts under the hood and CATCH FIRE!!! .. i learned this the hard way .. i coulda got a simple fuel line replaced but instead i didnt think anything of it cause my friend the "mechanical genius" told me it was nothing .. until it actually caught fire resulting in 3.5k worth of repairs
