Downpipe questions?

I have a stock '94 FD twin. I have read numerous threads about how I have to do a downpipe.

What are the best downpipes available? Is it possible to have and exhaust shop make me one?

Also, would 8mm plug wires help me out at all?

Thanks,
Cody

I have the m2 downpipe and it is great. 3" all the way and easy to install. I don't know if I would trust a shop to make a downpipe because of the bends and the 02 sensor hole that needs to be made. Just my opinion though

Rather than have a shop make you a DP you should just buy one IMO. Since shops like Pettit sell loads of DPs, they make sure they fit and perform well. A local shop that has probably never seen an RX-7 will have to start from scratch and it wont be as nice. I also recomend getting a stainless steel one.

Buy a nice SS one. There are lots of brands to chose from. Basically the same thing though. A jet coated or thermal wrapped one would bea plus.

Do you want us to guess who made that one?

If so I can't place it but we can elimate m2 and HKS because the m2 has the O2 sensor hole further down the pipe and HKS has the bend at the top for the steering linkages of non-US models (or at least I can't see it). WOW thats a long sentence

What's strange about it? Is that bung perpendicular? If not the top of the o2 sensor will hit the turbo housing.

My cousin and I just went single on our FD's. If you want a downpipe PM me and we can sell you one of ours. I had a Bonez DP on mine. He had a RX7 Fashion downpipe on his. (Chuck from Rotary Extreme sold it to him when he owned that site) They are both SS in excellent condition. Neither of them are shiny anymore but they work well and fit perfectly. Let me know.

Yeah nice, shiny, and aftermarket-looking for the smog technicians to poop on. Better toss in another C-note to the price for 'overlooking' during the visual inspection.

Rynberg,
why does everyone have to be so ******* rude when it comes to posting messages.......After all alot of people may not know what you know and have not used the sight as long. If you want it to be a nice forum full of information then be respectfull when responding. This is essentially a message board........You think we are wasting your time by asking, what you think, are stupid questions. When in turn you are wasting our time being a smart ***!

My "bung" is where the red circle is and I know for sure that mine is an m2 ss downpipe. I don't know what you got or if they changed versions for some reason but that is certainly not what I have.

rynberg wasn't trying to be an ***. it's just that the question you asked in your thread has been asked hundreds of times. i've learned that before i ask a question i always try and search for it. more than likely the question you have has already been asked and answered.
as for your quesion i'd pick up a used ss one. i got mine for 120. i've heard that the m2 and hks are the easiest to install.

His post has a great link in it that anyone looking for a dp would want to look through. However his tone was that of an ***. There is nothing wrong with just posting the link Also, if you are going to respond try to say something creative and helpful otherwise just don't respond. There are a ton of threads that one will come across while trying to search that say "try searching" or something to that effect. That just turns out to be a waste of time in one;s search.

Ok, fine, I came off as an ***. I guess everyone has already forgotten about the "common sense" sticky at the top of the page.....

CGBTF:

The link I gave you is to a good post that is only a week old or so. While you may consider me an ******* for the tone of my post, I think you are inconsiderate for not spending 10 seconds using the search function. I also try to provide whatever info I have to help someone out as much as possible on the forum. Just get a little tired of the repetition of some of the topics, that's all.

Since I was taken to task for not being more helpful, here's my downpipe input:

I have the Bonez SS downpipe. It fits well and the construction quality is very good. The 02 sensor is farther down the pipe (same as M2 location), making it easier to access. While it is more costly than some, you don't have to wait 2 months to get it and it's built well.
